Junior Business System Developer

Energi Danmark A/S

Do you have skills within programming, a can-do mentality, and are you ready to be challenged by the energy sector? If you thrive in a fast-paced environment where you have the possibility to make a difference, then Energi Danmark may just be the place for you.
We are expanding and are therefore looking for another Business Systems Developer to join the Business Intelligence (BI) team in a newly established position.

JOIN OUR DIVISION
The ED Energy division is responsible for handling all client-based activities, and optimizing all types of assets (wind, solar, conventional production, flexible consumption etc.). The division is handling all activities, from long financial production hedges to optimization seconds before real time delivery, throughout the Nordic region and Germany.

We thoroughly understand the properties of the various assets (wind turbines, solar power, combined heat and power plants, batteries, consumption etc.), and the different options and possibilities in the electricity markets, and we take pride in delivering the best possible optimization result for our clients each day.

You will be affiliated with a staff function with the role of supporting the whole division with relevant analyses that ease decision-making processes in a fast-paced environment. The nature of a staff function is advisory and so belonging to this function implies that you must be advisory up and downwards in the organization.
The team is branched out into an analysis function that deals with tasks such as, e.g., asset & market analyses and forecasts, and an operations function that ensures stability for our division during the daily operations.

THE ROLE
The energy sector does not sleep and handling this will be your greatest challenge!
In such an environment, data pours into the organization throughout all 24 hours of the day from every conceivable direction: from operational and transactional systems; from scanners, sensors, and smart meters; from inbound and outbound customer contact points, and the web.

As an example, data pours in from some sources with a temporal resolution of 1 minute, which already hints at the complexity of our business. Those streams of data contain a wealth of potentially valuable insight, which you will help to extract and report further.
We run a 24-hour business, and this means that the products that you deliver must work twenty-four hours seven days a week, which means in the nighttime; at the weekends; Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve or whenever we are not in the office.

If this hasn’t scared, you away then you must be brave! In that respect, please go on and read about your main responsibilities. Taking all the previously mentioned objectives into consideration you will:

  • In cooperation with your team, make sure that existing data processes, software and dashboards run and function as intended.
  • In cooperation with your team, maintain already running business relevant tools.
  • Develop solutions to help traders make the right decision.
  • Develop business relevant tools on a strategic and operational level.
  • Develop new procedures and methods to strengthen our daily processes further.
  • Develop backend code for analysis and present valuable insights.
  • Work with data from MSSQL Servers

YOUR PROFILE
We are looking for a colleague who is outgoing, motivated, proactive, and able to keep a cool head in pressured situations. Additionally, you are expected to be a team player, but also able to work independently with your responsibilities. You can quickly acquire new knowledge within unfamiliar areas. You are structured and able to adjust and prioritize in a fast-paced working environment to be able to meet all critical deadlines.

The energy market will expose you to constant changes and you will not experience two days alike in this business. That is why we expect you to be a fast learner and to thrive in a challenging environment where the learning curve is steep. You are conscientious and take full responsibility for your own projects.

For your professional background, we imagine that you either just finished an education preferable in Physics, Mathematics, Mathematics-Economy, or Data science. However, motivation and personal attitude is what we value the most and therefore if you have the interest in the area, we will make sure to coach you, expand your toolbox and develop your skills, if you are willing on the other hand to show dedication and work hard for it.

To succeed in this position, you will have the following technical qualifications:

  • Experienced user in Python and C#
  • Knowledge VBA and R
  • Knowledge of MSSQL
  • Knowledge of data mining

It is not expected that you have any in-depth knowledge of the energy/power sector. It is furthermore not expected that you are a native Danish speaker, but English on a professional level is a must.

WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO HEARING FROM YOU
Please make sure that the full application contains a cover letter, resumé and graduation certificate.
We will start inviting candidates for interviews and reserve the right to put down the ad when we have found the right candidate.
