The Job
The Nautical Simulator Instructor / Course Developer will be part of the Marine HR Support team consisting of nine employees and you will be reporting to the Senior Manager. The right candidate will enjoy a role with the opportunity for vast cross functional involvement and get insights into the whole value chain.

The Nautical Simulator Instructor / Course Developer ensures that necessary trainings of seafarers are designed, planned, delivered, monitored, updated, enhanced, and assessed as per industry regulatory requirements, principal, and other stakeholder requirements.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• The inhouse courses for our deck cadets including the deck simulator course and other relevant courses depending on our needs.
• Creating/ improving learning and development programs in line with industry requirements and company needs to address competency challenges.
  • Identifying training and development needs thru analysis of onboard incidents.
  • Evaluating effectiveness of training and development courses.
  • Checking respective teaching materials, update as necessary and maintain upkeep of training equipment making sure they are always operational and in compliance with new rules / regulations.
• Documentation of course catalogue, including assessment package as per industry regulatory requirements, principal, and other stakeholder requirements.
• Creating and validating the seafarer assessment tools, and maintaining its confidentiality, control, and reproduction.
• Maintaining the functionalities of the Learning and Development Centre equipment and perform simple troubleshooting.
• Facilitating in-house courses, prepare, submit, and keep record of attendance and performance evaluation report, course evaluation, and course certificate.
• Conducting simulator assessment for promotion next to ranks, prepare, and keep record of final assessment report.
• Conducting technical interviews for new-hires and/ or seafarers who are candidates for promotion.
• Participating in the performance monitoring of seafarers on board our vessels.
• Conducting onboard training (as needed).
• Traveling to other offices to deliver training (when needed).
• Ensuring that all communication and information needed by the seafarers related to their training are well communicated.
• Building quality relationship both with internal and external stakeholders.

The Profile
The ideal candidate should have the passion to help improve the competences of Filipino seafarers, ambitious enough to be part of developing leaders at sea. You have at least three years of relevant work experience in the field of Learning and Development as Nautical Simulator Instructor/ Course Developer. The right candidate holds a relevant educational background in Maritime Studies in Marine Transportation.

Furthermore, you are/have:

• Seagoing experience at management level preferably on a tanker vessel.
• Holder of IMO Model Course 6.09 or equivalent.
• Strong teaching experience in a shipping company or training centre.
• Innovative, embrace systems and technology and other social or tech platforms.
• Proficient with the Microsoft Office Applications.
• Knowledgeable with the use of simulators.
• Possess good leadership, strategic and analytical skills.
• Strong sense of urgency and excellent customer service orientation and negotiations skills.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to relate with all people in the organization.
• Organizational skills and attention to detail.
