Site PMO, Senior Project Manager at Site Syntese – a Ferring Company

As our new Site PMO, you will be responsible for developing and leading the Project Management Office at Syntese in a role that covers site portfolio, project- and program management.

We are looking for you to become a natural go-to person for our project managers on-site and leverage your experience to help us take our project management to the next level in alignment with global Ferring Pharmaceuticals project management governance and standards.

Syntese was founded in the early 1980s when a Ferring Group team in the Synthesis department invented the 5-ASA purification process that was to become the cornerstone of our business. Today, Syntese manufactures Mesalazine, an Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) used in treating inflammatory bowel diseases. We are renowned worldwide for stable Mesalazine of exceptional quality.

Your day at Ferring In this role, you will combine coaching with portfolio management and actively leading site projects. Using your project management experience, you will train and support project managers, steering group members, and other relevant stakeholders. By doing so, you will significantly impact the development of our site project execution and support our strategic objectives.

Part of your role will be to assist site management and different departments during investment and project prioritization, providing clear reports about the portfolio status, risks, impediments, and opportunities. You will also be responsible for ensuring that we apply the PMO company strategy in tangible plans with the appropriate risk evaluation and resource allocation.

Your tasks will include (but are not limited to):

• Securing the implementation of Global Engineering (GE) and Global PMO governance, templates, and tools in alignment with the needs of Syntese
• Implement and maintain a standard and best-practice methodology for project execution, ensuring a harmonized and consistent execution of projects that support site strategies and goals
• Keeping in close dialogue with line of business and all levels of management at our production site, as well as with external vendors
• Using project management inputs and PMO project management tools and systems to proactively forecast portfolio development and status related to financial results, resource allocation, and business realization and benefits
• Monitoring the overall performance of the organization and projects to adjust the allocation of finances based on progress against goals

This role does not involve direct leadership but strong communication, change management, and informal leadership skills are required.

Moreover, you have a broad understanding of financial management principles to direct and support decision-making, and you have experience analyzing data and reporting to management levels. Your excellent communication skills (you speak and write Danish and English fluently) underline this.

Your background includes:

• Experience with project management, leadership of operations, or operational excellence in the chemical, life science, or biotech industry (preferably in a PM/PMO role)
• Experience training and coaching project managers, team members, and steering groups
• A bachelor’s degree in life science, engineering, or business administration

• An advanced degree such as an MBA or a master’s in project management – combined with, e.g., a PMI, Prince 2, PMI-ACP, or CPIP certification is preferred
• Demonstrated success in delivering or controlling large-scale CAPEX and OPEX projects on time and within budget while respecting quality and customer satisfaction
• Advanced-level experience using project management software such as MS Project, Jira, Asana, or Primavera
