Do you want to take part in the green transition and shape the future in road and railway design? Do you have a passion for innovation and engineering education?

We invite you to join our section “Production, Transportation and Planning”, where you will have colleagues with a mix of research and industry experience. Our current team of transportation researchers work with urban design, traffic planning, sustainable transportation, railway operations, freight and logistics, and traffic safety.

You will complement this team with your expertise in road and railway design. We are particularly interested in researching the intersections between our team members’ research areas, including (a) the relationships between overall planning decisions and road/railway design, and (b) the role of new technologies in transportation. You will contribute to the sections research within the following areas:

  • Geometric road and railway design including road types, capacity, function, safety, alignment, track technology and station design
  • Water-sensitive infrastructure (e.g. drainage, rainfall delay, and rainwater infiltration)
  • Operation and maintenance planning of roads and railways
  • Traffic demand analysis and the consequences for road and railway design
  • Sustainability, including Environmental Impact and Life Cycle Assessments (EIA and LCA)

Our section is diverse in culture, gender, nationalities, personality types, and career paths. We enjoy collegial idea generation, feedback and cooperation in an informal, safe and fun working environment. We are all motivated by contributing to a sustainable, livable future. If you have the same motivation, you will fit perfectly with our team.
