Experienced Process Engineer

Do you want to be part of a diverse and motivated team that aims to change the energy sector? We’re building our first pilot plant to take our technology rapidly from lab to market – come join our journey to make the globe greener!
We are planning to ensure a world where sustainable energy is always available. To be successful, we need engaged and talented engineers to help us design, develop and build our grid-scale thermal energy storage solution based on molten salts. The storage solution will greatly improve the integration of sustainable energy in the energy system.

THE ROLE
At Hyme, we are looking for an experienced and motivated Process Engineer. Together with our Process Engineering team you will develop the process design of systems used in our Energy Storage solution, based on molten hydroxide salts. The role will be an integral part of the Engineering department and will interface and collaborate with teams of engineers and chemists, both internally as well as externally with technical partners, sub-suppliers, and regulatory stakeholders.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Technical Authority for Process Engineering. Establish process engineering methods and principles, designing safe systems from requirements to final design and verification.
  • Engineering Support. Assist colleagues with engineering issues, reviewing calculations and performing complex system calculations.
  • System Design Optimization. Develop and optimize system designs for future applications.
  • Design Code Application. Identify and apply relevant design codes like ASME, ANSI, etc.
  • Technical Documentation. Produce and review design documents, including System Design Descriptions, Equipment Lists, Data Sheets, Technical Reports, Calculation Memories, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), among others.
  • Process Design Calculations. Generate and review process design calculations, including heat and mass balances and hydraulics.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration. Lead cross-disciplinary collaboration (e.g., with mechanical design and instrumentation & control) to identify and develop equipment design information and specifications.

PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES
Essential:

  • Educational Foundation: bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Proven Experience: 10+ years working with process systems.
  • Expertise in High-Temperature Process Fluid Systems or similar demanding environments.
  • Project Management: ability to lead projects, collaborating internally and externally.
  • Engineering Software Skills: experience with tools for process engineering design, like Aspen Hysys.
  • Fluent in English: effective verbal and written communication.

Highly Desirable:

  • Innovative Expertise: experience in new field development.

PERSONAL COMPETENCIES

  • Adaptive Problem-Solver. You creatively navigate design challenges and stay motivated through multiple iterations of the same design.
  • Collaborative Communicator. A team player who connects smoothly with colleagues and stakeholders across disciplines.
  • Strategic Detail-Oriented. You manage both the big picture and small details effectively.
  • Results-Driven Proactive. Your commitment drives proactive responsibility, shaping the process engineering discipline at Hyme.
  • Calm and Assertive. You maintain composure in tough situations, confidently voicing concerns and making decisions.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • The chance to impact the global energy landscape.
  • A broad and exciting role with a lot of responsibility and the chance to influence the same.
  • An opportunity to have influence in a young and fast-growing company on an important mission.
  • Flexible hours and a flat social hierarchy.
  • Being part of a friendly culture and a brilliant international team.
  • A varied social calendar driven by team members (game nights, sports groups, summer company trips, family events, etc.)

ABOUTHYME
At Hyme, we are developing and bringing to market a new concept for molten salt energy storage based on hydroxide salts. We want to ensure that sustainable energy is always available both in the utilities sector and in the industrial sector.
