Field Application Engineer

As our new Field Application Engineer, you are the direct link to our customers. You will directly impact how our equipment interacts with our users’ communications devices in the field.

The team you will be part of: A pioneering team of dedicated specialists
At our global HQ, located in Ballerup, Denmark, you join our Audio Engineering team in the FalCom division, which is built on GN’s foundation as a global leader in intelligent audio solutions.

We create advanced hearing protection solutions that allow special operations, military, law enforcement and security personnel to communicate in the most extreme environments – all while providing world-class hearing protection.

You will be part of a small independent team of international software, hardware, and mechanical engineers. The team is characterized by a supportive, collaborative, fun and inclusive atmosphere.

We develop sophisticated software and hardware for low power communication solutions. We work independently and in teams as needed, and together we navigate in a project-oriented development culture, collaborating with colleagues across GN and especially with our R&D and sales functions.

You report to Senior Manager Audio Engineering, Jens Kirkelund Madsen, who explains: “It’s a very interesting position. You’ll have a lot of autonomy, and you get to travel, experience different cultures and work with all aspects of FalComs products as well as the customer solutions. It really is a great opportunity for learning”.

Your contribution is appreciated, and you will:
Be a key player in developing and designing our prototype communication systems, which include working with radios, intercom systems and data devices at the users’ location, as well as simulating these setups in our global office. Specifically, you will:

• Design and build analog/digital communication systems.
• Develop connection interface documentation for the communication systems.
• Rework and debug prototypes in the field.
• Adjust audio profile software to achieve optimum results.
• Document your work

To succeed in the role, we imagine that you have:

• An educational background in engineering or other relevant field of study
• Some years of experience in software and/or electronic development by which you are an experienced and innovative electronics engineer.
• Experience with audio electronics.
• Experience with tactical radios and knowledge about IP networks
• The ability to manage several projects consecutively and possess well-developed stakeholder management skills.
• Knowledge in soldering.
• Knowledge in EMC design.
• Speak and write English fluently.

You are known as a team player, who is focused on achieving high-quality and innovative solutions together with your colleagues. In the face of challenges, you know how to maintain a positive outlook, and you are willing to challenge those around you when you see room for improvement.

You should also expect there to be approximately 10-15 days of travel a year to visit our global customers.
