Senior Engineer, Cloud FinOps

LEGO Koncernen

Job Description
#LI-JT1

We are searching for an innovative senior FinOps engineer to join our engineering team building the FinOps Capability across The LEGO group. Our products help LEGO® engineers optimize their cloud footprint from design to operations, and help management make data-driven decisions regarding budgets and contracts. With the growth of Cloud and the need to integrate on-prem cost, we are striving to shift gears to deliver an innovative Cost Management Solution.

Core Responsibilities
Our Cloud FinOps function focuses primarily on helping other teams in our digital organization. Embrace and use cloud responsibly using FinOps governance, models, and tools. The Sr. Engineer will be interacting extensively with and helping other product teams.

  • Build and maintain our unified cost management solution in The LEGO Group’s data platform, leading integrations to data sources (cloud and on-prem) and the consumer towards PowerBI and Product teams.
  • Build, deploy and maintain the data pipelines for Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) showback, optimization recommendations and forecast vs. actuals among others.
  • Drive FinOps practices across the organization together with the rest of the team, providing technical advice about rightsizing, re-architecting, and modernizing applications.
  • Contribute to the FinOps roadmap, improving our product, services and processes resulting into a more efficient cloud setup.

Play your part in our team succeeding
The FinOps team is a core team for The LEGO Group, providing foundational capabilities for the entire organization.

We are closing the gap between engineering and finance, in a world where cost is consumption-based and the ownership of it has shifted left to the engineers that spin up resources and make architectural choices. Our job is to provide the organization with a unified Cost Management solution, which calculates the TCO for every product team and provides the needed insights for each role (management, finance & procurement, engineering, etc.). We also promote the FinOps culture as part of the DevOps practices and work very close to engineering teams to make it a reality.

We are at a turning point where our cloud process has shown maturity and triggered substantial savings, so we’ve been asked to integrate cost for on-prem solutions and distribute in a similar fashion. This requirement has led us to use the LEGO Group’s data platform and start crafting a new, scalable, and robust solution that can cater for an enterprise-wide service.

We are a very international team; our work language is English, and we use Agile methodologies in our work.

The team is based in our new Copenhagen office and at the brand-new LEGO Campus in Billund. The work environment is exciting, inspiring, and flexible, and we like to have fun along the way!

Do you have what it takes?
We are looking for candidates who are experienced in AWS and/or Azure cloud infrastructure architectural design and cost optimization, with a few years working experience in cloud infrastructure – and good partner collaboration skills.

To succeed in this role, you come with experience with ETL pipeline design, development & maintenance for substantial data sets. Development of self-service API’s using Python/spark for automation or orchestration. Also, we will like candidates to have familiarity with cloud cost reporting tools (e.g., Apptio, AWS/Azure Cost Explorer) and Cost Usage Report files. Preferably also knowledge of AWS China and cross-border cost reporting.

Other nice-to-have skills would be:

  • Graduation in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or Engineering.
  • FinOps practitioner certification (at least introduction to FinOps LFS175x).
  • AWS cloud practitioner and/or Azure fundamentals certifications
  • Background in Cloud, Data engineering or SRE engineering.
  • Databricks and PowerBI experience.

Please note: Relocation support is not offered for this role.
