Research Engineer – Emission Measurement Technology

MAN Energy Solution is seeking a highly motivated and curious Research Engineer to join our dynamic team. The intended candidate will be responsible for conducting emission measurements and analyzing data to support our continuous development towards decarbonizing shipping.

You will play an important role in:

• Collaborating across the organization and encouraging teamwork
• Conducting measurements and validating data during test campaigns externally and onboard.
• Ensure the outcome of testing activities is shared with stakeholders internal & external
• Develop and maintain measuring methods and equipment, including calibration and ensuring certificates are valid.
• Supporting retrofit amendment process and working closely together with the certification team.

As an emission measuring specialist, you will be accountable for preparing adequate equipment, as well as setting up prior to starting the test campaign. When travelling you will be a part of a skilled engineering team, all contributing within their respective specialist areas in order to optimize and develop the engine process. You can expect to be travelling up to 90 days per year in the span of 4-5 trips per year with a duration of 1-4 weeks, in our various locations with licensees in East Asia and onboard vessels in service worldwide.

We imagine that you have:

• An engineering background within Mechanical, Marine, Electrical, Chemistry or equivalent.
• Basic programming skills within Python, C++ or similar are an advantage, but not required.
• Experience from the maritime sector, preferably within shipping and related to physical testing.
• Excellent in English both verbal and written, together with communicational and presentational skills.
• A curious mindset with a natural interest in challenging yourself.
• You see planning as an essential part of the job, both technically and in terms of managing test activities.
• International experience, preferably collaboration with partners in China, South Korea, and/or Japan.
• Knowledge of exhaust gas emissions and conducting measurements.

Welcome to the Engine Process Measuring and Development Department You will become part of the Engine Process Development department which is part of two-stroke R&D. We are responsible for developing our engine platform, as well as challenging the current technologies and fuel types to help decarbonise the maritime industry. The group you will be part of consists of 13 colleagues, all specialized within measuring technology.
