At DTU Wind and Energy Systems we are pushing the research boundaries in the domain of e-mobility by exploiting synergies between electric vehicles (EV’s), charging infrastructures and a resilient, cost-effective, renewable-based power system. We invite you to be part of this existing journey. The Department of Wind and Energy Systems at the Technical University of Denmark is seeking applicants for a position as Professor in e-mobility.

This is your opportunity to join a dynamic team dedicated to making a significant impact on the planet’s future. We offer a multidisciplinary, international, and friendly atmosphere, encouraging creativity, diversity, empathy, and teamwork.

Responsibilities and qualifications

As our new professor you will carry out groundbreaking research in design and operation of prosumer solutions in a renewable-based energy system with particular focus on e-mobility exploiting synergies between electric vehicles, charging infrastructures and a renewable-based power system.

Your research will contribute to new understanding and new solutions within topics such as grid integrated e-mobility, charging infrastructures, prosumer solutions for e-mobility, smart charging and bidirectional concepts, and electrification of private and commercial transportation. The research can include a combination of theory, modelling, simulations, and experiments, and is expected to contribute to DTU’s overall strategic objective on development of technologies for sustainable change as well as assume leadership of the opportunities offered by digitalization. Any experimental research can benefit from our PowerLabDK state-of-the-art laboratories and real-life testbeds.

In the position you are expected to generate new interdisciplinary research projects that advance state-of-the-art and contribute to the creation of new research directions within the field of eMobility. You are expected to assume a leading role within the division, foster collaboration, attracting competitive funding for excellent frontier research both in Denmark and in Europe. You will collaborate with leading research groups within your field, develop close collaborations with industry, lead large research initiatives, and participate in international research collaborations.

You are expected to take a lead role in teaching at the BEng, BSc, MSc and PhD levels. You will develop teaching activities to support DTU’s ambition of providing Europe’s best engineering education. Additionally, you are expected to contribute to the teaching of both fundamental and advanced topics related to your scientific field in our relevant educational programs, e.g. our BSc and MSc programs within sustainable energy and electrical engineering.

You will be affiliated with the Section on E-mobility and Prosumer Integration in the Division of Power and Energy Systems. The Section on E-mobility and Prosumer Integration undertakes internationally leading research and teaching in the field of electric vehicle technologies, charging infrastructure and flexibility, advanced power electronics, and hybrid AC-DC systems. The research in the section is multidisciplinary, and it is currently formed by 27 researchers from 15 different countries, including PhD students, postdocs, and research assistants.

You are expected to be a driving force for collaboration within the section as well as with researchers in neighboring sections working on among others smart grids, power system resiliency, social science, market design, and power system planning.

You must be an internationally recognized expert in your research field and have excellent teaching skills. You must be strong in industry collaboration and able to create an impact on society.

As a researcher, you must have a proven track record within e-mobility exploiting synergies between electric vehicles, charging infrastructures and a renewable-based power system. We expect that you will build on a deep scientific foundation within power engineering, automation and control, computer science and/or similar discipline(s).
