Postdoc in Technology Entrepreneurship and Digitalization - DTU Entrepreneurship

DTU Centre for Technology Entrepreneurship opens a two-year Postdoc position with a possibility to be extended into a tenure track assistant professor by the end of the postdoc. Special interests will be given to digitalization and entrepreneurship in a broad scope of theories and methods.
Technical University of Denmark (DTU) has over recent years cemented its position as a dedicated entrepreneurial university and continuously aims to provide the means to promote entrepreneurship and innovation among students and faculties by developing their entrepreneurial capabilities to be capable of solving challenges facing our society. Therefore, DTU puts a premium on research, education, and learning in this respect by investing in a new postdoc position of a two-year contract in the field of technology entrepreneurship and digitalization. The position will be hosted at DTU Centre for Technology Entrepreneurship (DTU Entrepreneurship) at DTU Lyngby Campus.

The hosting institution will provide the best conditions to support the career development during the postdoc period and nurture the candidate towards a fast-track tenure track position, including a mentor, state-of-the-art research infrastructure, funding for conferences and presentations, pedagogic training, and international networks. Candidates for this position should expect to play an important role in research and education within the DTU Entrepreneurship.

Research fields
We welcome candidates from relevant research backgrounds to join DTU Entrepreneurship. Special interests will be given to those who have the background and experience in research in digitalization and entrepreneurship in a broad scope of theories, research methods, and practices. For example,

• The use of digital technologies in entrepreneurial process;
• The use of digital technologies in entrepreneurial education;
• Digital entrepreneurial Ecosystem

The candidate’s research expertise is expected to contribute to DTU Entrepreneurship in various ways. For example:

• Creating a new research area of your own at the centre, and/or
• Connect and combine with existing research areas at the centre to create new cross-disciplinary research, and/or
• Translate and apply knowledge from your research to student education and other practical projects of the centre (e.g., research grant application)

In addition, we envision the ideal candidate to have didactical knowledge and experience in entrepreneurship education, and/or practical experience in entrepreneurship and innovation.

Responsibilities and qualifications
The postdoc is expected to perform research in some of the areas outlined above. This includes developing new research and alliances, developing research applications and accelerating the academic output in general. As general responsibilities, you will be expected to:

• Conduct and initiate rigorous and impactful research at an international level and build a track record of research excellence and relevance. Publications in highly ranked journals are expected, and/or.
• Contribute to developing new and/or transform existing courses into digital format to engage a large number of students online, and/or.
• Provide supervision to BSc or MSc students and engage in the mentoring of early-stage PhD students, and/or.
• Establish research networks nationally and internationally, and/or
• Develop research proposals in close collaboration with senior academic colleagues and relevant partners to the university in pursuit of suitable national and international funding opportunities, and/or
• Contribute to teaching in one or two courses related to entrepreneurship and digitalization at the BSc, MSc, or PhD levels is highly appreciated but not obligatory

Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about research in digital entrepreneurship. We are therefore looking for candidates with the following qualifications for postdoc researcher.

• A PhD degree in entrepreneurship and innovation, or other relevant fields
• The potential for documented academic production at an international level with significant impact in the field
• An ambitious research vision for the postdoc period spanning the fields of digitalization and entrepreneurship
• A track record of teaching at various levels of university education, if any
• Experience in supervising students on the Bachelor and Master levels, if any
• Experience in application for research grants and/or participate in granted research projects, if any

Assessment
In the assessment of the candidates, consideration will be given to:

• Research experience and output
• Strength in specialized research methods
• Research vision in career development
• Experience and quality of entrepreneurship-related teaching, if relevant
• International experience
• Social and Communication skills

As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The period of employment is 2 years.

Centre for Technology Entrepreneurship (DTU Entrepreneurship)
DTU Entrepreneurship is a centre aiming to be a world-renowned centre of excellence for building the entrepreneurial and technology innovation capabilities of students, researchers and organizations. The centre currently employs approximately 35 people including eight faculty and about 15 PhD students.

Academic members of the centre publish in the top journals in entrepreneurship and innovation management and conduct research in the fields of start-up creation and success, entrepreneurial teams, entrepreneurship and health, corporate entrepreneurship, IP and technology transfer, digital business model innovations, sustainability, and entrepreneurship didactics.
