Trial Coordinator/ Trial technician at Aquaculture Technology Centre
Are you our new Trial coordinator or Trial technician for our team at the Aquaculture Technology Centre (ATC) Hirtshals, Denmark?
BioMar is one of the leading suppliers of high-performance feed to the aquaculture industry. The ATC Hirtshals, Denmark, is one of the largest privately-owned aquaculture feed research facilities in Europe. The facilities are continuously expanding, and now it is again time to add a new trial coordinator to the team.
As our new colleague, you will be part of a team of 13 dedicated people that together bridge the gap between theory and validated knowledge based on real fish and real feeds.
Responsibilities:
Trial Technician tasks include:
- Ensure best possible fish welfare and performance through dedicated attention to detail
- Administer trial feeds according to schedule and fish behavior
- Monitor feed intake
- Monitor water quality and continuously optimize this to perfection
- Ensure well performing Biofilters
- Hygiene maintenance in systems and facilities
- Ensure equipment maintenance to high standard
- Take the lead on trial samplings and data collection with structure and integrity
Extra tasks for trial coordinator include:
- Communicate closely with scientists and the Hirtshals team
- Take on the responsibility for all aspects of trial preparations
- Review data and fish performance continuously, to secure prompt reactions to irregularities
- Deliver raw data to scientists according to standard procedures
- Take the lead on trial sampling preparation, coordination and actual samplings
- Develop new methods and protocols according to the needs of the R&D department
Along with the team, you will participate in the weekend working scheme and alarm duties, therefore it will be required to live near the facilities in Hirtshals.
Relevant educational background and experience with fish husbandry
As a person you are proactive and focus on how to improve processes and ways of working. You are a team player but still independent enough to conduct tasks and work alone, when required. Furthermore, we prefer you to have:
- A BSc or MSc degree (or equivalent) within a relevant field/ A technical education within aquaculture
- Experience with fish husbandry in recirculating aquaculture systems.
- Good knowledge of IT and Office applications, e.g. Excel.
- Fluency in English, written and oral.
- Danish language would be a plus.
