Country

Job Description

Do you want to drive quality with a global team of Test Engineers and Field Test Coordinators in a dynamic project environment? At Leica Geosystems Technology, we are now looking for a QA Test Lead On-Machine for our Machine Control Division to do just that.

The QA Test Lead On-Machine will lead a team of Test Engineers and Field Test Coordinators in Denmark, Sweden, and the US, coordinating quality assurance with stakeholders from product development, aligning methodologies, mapping best practices, and enhancing our test capabilities. Your stakeholder, change, and people management skills, supported by strong domain knowledge, will foster collaboration across disciplines and locations, provide prescriptive reporting to R&D Management, and advance the QA landscape within the organization.

You will be part of the On-Machine Software department, which is dedicated to design and develop state-of-the-art machine control software for 16 different types of heavy construction machines. Your focus will lie on our embedded software products, but testing comprises all parts of our portfolio, in-office feature testing, regression testing on our local T-Site and alpha/beta testing out in the field. Work is organized in projects with clear deliverables and the development teams work agile, according to the SCRUM framework. Quality and test plans are tracked in Confluence and Xray and our ambition is to include more automated testing into our CI/CD environment.

Desired Skills
Your first projects & Areas of responsibility
As the QA Test Lead On-Machine, your initial focus will be on analyzing workflows and processes within your team, identify opportunities, and drive initiatives to improve the daily operations.

You will be an integral part of the product development, focusing mainly on on-machine software products, ensuring the required quality standard for our products.

Further, your focus will be on providing your team with the right support, and opportunities to grow, to ensure that competencies and qualities follow.
Generally, you will be responsible and accountable for

  • Proactive functional performance monitoring and improvement.
  • Coordinating and leading a team of 6 engaged Test Engineers and Field Test Coordinators
  • Tool evaluation and implementation.
  • Process development, standardization, and documentation.
  • Risk Management and recommendations for testing and release activities.

The job at a glance
After finishing your morning coffee, with your great colleagues, your day will be guided by our dynamic project environment. Your keen eye for resource allocation and ability to derive, and report impacts on deadlines, quality, or other key metrics will direct your prioritizations.

After lunch in our awesome canteen, you will be working closely with the Field Test Coordinators across locations to ensure smooth operations with our alpha and beta partners and develop test plans for our next releases. You will collaborate with our teams in Switzerland, Sweden and Australia and align on the integration of our On-Machine solutions with our Cloud and Field software as well as hardware.

A successful performance in this position, ensuring our QA practices are effective, efficient, and adaptable to changing business needs, requires you to suggest and drive initiatives together with R&D Management to improve any aspect of our product development process, including proactive risk assessments and reporting.

What you should and could know
It is foundational that you have solid domain knowledge within QA Testing of software and hardware solutions. Your curious nature allows you to investigate processes and establish improvements, while your knowledge that you are not a “one-person-army” leads to a natural focus of involvement and engagement of those around you.
