Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Cloud Architect specialized in Azure Cloud Development to join our dynamic team. We need a candidate that through his/her expertise and leadership skills together with coaching of the team will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing cloud solutions on the Azure platform.

In addition to the technical responsibilities, the candidate will coach agile teams to secure lean architecture and software development practices, ensuring the alignment of cloud solutions with agile principles and methodologies. This is of outmost importance to secure we set up our cloud environment according to current best practices from the beginning.

We are investing a significant amount of development hours and resources on our software solutions through our three agile development teams and to secure best output of all resources and the investment is sound we need this senior profile on board.

How to contribute to our vision

Cloud Architecture Design: Design and architect complex cloud solutions on the Azure platform, considering scalability, reliability, security, performance aspects and leading-edge technologies. Develop architecture blueprints, diagrams, and technical documentation. Including delivery of projects in time and with solid quality.

Azure Infrastructure Deployment: Lead the deployment and configuration of Azure infrastructure components, including virtual machines, networking, storage, databases, and other services, using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and tools like ARM templates, Terraform or Biceps.

Cloud Application Development: Provide expertise in designing, building, and optimizing cloud-native applications and microservices using Azure services such as Azure App Service, Azure Functions, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), and Azure Service Fabric.

Cloud Security and Compliance: Implement robust security measures and compliance standards within Azure environments, including identity and access management (IAM), encryption, network security, and compliance frameworks like GDPR, ISO27001 etc.

Performance Optimization and Monitoring: Optimize the performance and efficiency of Azure workloads through performance tuning, monitoring, and capacity planning. Utilize Azure monitoring and logging tools to proactively identify and address performance bottlenecks and issues.

Lean Architecture and Software Development Coaching: Coach agile teams on lean architecture principles and software development practices to ensure the adoption of agile methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban based on SAFe, within cloud solution development processes. Facilitate

continuous improvement and alignment with agile values and principles.

Cost Management: Develop cost-effective cloud solutions by optimizing resource utilization, leveraging Azure cost management tools, and implementing cost-saving strategies such as Reserved Instances, Azure Hybrid Benefit, and Azure Spot VMs.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, DevOps engineers, and business stakeholders, to understand requirements, provide technical guidance, and drive successful cloud solution implementations.

Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest Azure services, features, and best practices. Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions to enhance the organization's cloud capabilities and competitiveness.

Additionally,

• Develops business software applications, system software and/or IT solutions on the basis of functional specifications. Scope of position embraces both the customization or reuse/modification of system software and/or solutions as well as their development from scratch.
• Consults with customers in creating functional specifications and work estimates, and supports Make-or-Buy decisions.
• Analyses performance gaps of existing software environments and proposes measures to address efficiency problems.
• Is also responsible for the implementation of data-driven components supporting data modelling and engineering in the context of data analytics (Data Stewardship).
• Contributes and supports planning, budgeting, design and alignment of business processes and IT environment.
• Supports customization, analyzes programs and defines actions necessary to change logical functions.
• Advice business accountable management of the unit, in all IT Development related issues.
• Evaluates vendor solutions and / or drafts program layout to ensure proper programming phase and performs bug verification and testing.
• Provides technical Support for business applications (standard software and custom development).
• Designs and realizes interfaces between business applications.
• Supports migration projects, ensures change documentation and plans and releases upgrades.
• Prepares, plans and may execute trainings.
• Supports change-related processes and the implementation of IT security guidelines.
• Keeps abreast of trends and industry standards in software programming, system integration and other IT development matters.
• Typically reports to an IT Manager or Team Leader. NB: If the candidate fulfills more the attributes of a Software Developer as described in the JF "R&D", such mapping is also permissible

What you need to make a difference

• Bachelor's or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.
• Extensive experience (10+ years) in cloud architecture design and implementation, with a focus on Microsoft Azure.
• Strong expertise in Azure services and solutions, including Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Networking, Azure Storage, Azure SQL Database, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), and Azure Functions.
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as ARM templates, Terraform, or Biceps.
• Solid understanding of cloud security principles, identity management, encryption, and compliance standards.
• Experience with cloud-native application development, microservices architecture, and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Extensive experience in software development - preferably with .NET Core, Python, Bicep, SQL, Bash, PowerShell, Go and YAML
• Proven experience with leading and coaching agile teams as well as promoting lean architecture and software development practices.
• SCRUM certified, leader/manager experience and with solid skills in monitor, handling and minimizing costs on a cloud-based platform.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ideally - proven skills of ensuring delivery of high-quality software within deadlines with great communication with clients and stakeholders during the process of development"
• And ideally the candidate also has obtained Azure certifications
