Senior Data Protection Specialist

You will join a talented and ambitious compliance team centrally organised in Group Legal. Compliance has a group responsibility for Compliance, GDPR, and our Whistleblowing channel, Raising your Concern.

The green transition must be built on a solid foundation. The purpose of the position is to support this foundation by ensuring compliance with data protection requirements.

This is a cornerstone in Better Energy’s Community Engagement Model, which builds on correct and transparent handling of personal data for landowners and neighbours.

Furthermore, your data protection expertise will come into play as trusted advisor in a variety of tasks supporting the organisation at all levels and in all our markets.

This position is part of our Compliance, Group Legal function and will report to our Director, Head of Compliance in Denmark. This is a critical role for our fast-paced, growth-oriented business in a high-focus industry.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced data protection professional with excellent knowledge of personal data protection programmes, strong communication skills and a solution-oriented attitude.

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

• Lead, manage and develop Better Energy’s GDPR framework from a group-perspective and coordinate with subject matter experts on data protection and cyber security
• Prepare and execute the annual GDPR plan, including policy reviews, controls, maintaining records of processing activities, review risk assessment, and maintain process mapping.
• Manage day-to-day tasks such as DPA reviews, preparation of DPIAs and TIAs, handle data breaches, and respond to data subject requests.
• Foster and develop the data protection culture throughout the group, provide sound and pragmatic advice and educate on GDPR-related topics.
• Maintain a deep understanding of relevant legislations and developments within the area of data protection also in light of advancements within Artificial Intelligence

So, who are we looking for?
Personality, experience, and approach are more essential than education to be successful in Better Energy. You might be the right match for Better Energy if:

• you are a confident, energetic self-starter, with strong interpersonal skills and a focus on building trust,
• you have a demonstrated history of achieving great results through expert knowledge, collaboration and sound business acumen,
• you have excellent communication skills, with the ability to have an impact with individuals at all levels — from non-experts to data protection authorities — both in writing and orally,
• you hold a relevant education or qualifications and has regulatory and operational experience from dealing with personal data protection matters,
• you are able to combine regulatory knowledge and understanding with a general interest in the technical aspects of information security, or
• you are curious to learn, have a can-do attitude and take responsibility of every task until completed.

Detailed knowledge about GDPR from a legal perspective is a prerequisite. Knowledge about national implementation of the GDPR in our core markets (Poland, Denmark, Sweden, and Finland) and an interest in the technical aspects of information security and artificial intelligence is an advantage.
