At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of Chemistry and Bioscience, a position as Research Assistant in Fermented Foods is open for appointment from 1.8.2024 or soon hereafter. The position is available for a period of 1 year and 5 months. The Department of Chemistry and Bioscience provides cutting-edge research and teaching in biotechnology, biology, environmental science, chemistry, and chemical engineering. Our research solves important challenges for the benefit of society, and through research-based teaching, we educate independent, collaborative, and solution-oriented bachelors, graduates, and PhDs. Jobbeskrivelse
Research areas will be within the health effects of fermented foods. The work will encompass the optimization of conditions for microbial fermentations of plant material and the subsequent analysis of changes in plant metabolites and toxin removal as well as an evaluation of the effect of the fermented food on gut health.

Teaching will primarily be in Biotechnology/Medical Biotechnology, but also in other study programmes at the University.

Qualification requirements:
The required level of qualifications is at master level. The successful candidate must have experience with microbiome investigations(metagenome sequencing, microbial incubations, bioinformatical analysis of the collected samples). Experience with metabolite analysis by LC-MS will be considered an advantage. The candidate must document education in microbiology, bioinformatics and analytical chemical techniques. English is the working language of the department, excellent skills in oral and written communication in English are essential.

The required level of qualifications is at master level.

Reappointment may be made, but a Research Assistant can only be appointed to Research Assistant for a period of maximum three years. Employment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities(the Appointment Order) and the Ministry of Finance's current Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities. Employment and salary are in accordance with the collective agreement for state-employed academics.
