Wind Turbine Technician WT4 Specialist

Ørsted

Join us in this role where you’ll work closely with WT4 supervisors, planners, the Technical Site Support team, and technical back-office functions to prioritise our daily operational activities that maximise power plant production and revenue. Additionally, you’ll lead root cause analysis investigations that eliminate failure mechanisms, and you’ll record these effectively for future reference and to share across the wider organisation.

Welcome to Burbo Bank Operations
You’ll be part of UK West Power Plant 1 - Operations team where you, together with your colleagues, will focus on executing a safe and efficient operation of offshore assets. This opportunity allows for a technical expert who is ready to take on a high-impact role and support our ongoing efforts to safely achieve operational excellence, whilst helping create a world that runs entirely on green energy. We operate from CTV and sail to and from wind farms each day. As a team, we value mutual respect, trust, and open communication, fostering an inclusive and supportive atmosphere.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • leading power plant specific technical investigations, identifying root causes, and ensuring effective implementation of improvements
  • acting as the power plant WTG Technical Site Supervisor as per the regional escalation model to tackle faults
  • supporting creation of technical reports as requested for various business units
  • ensuring work notifications are efficiently prioritised and scheduled in the SMC priority list and short-term scheduling cockpit
  • prioritising tasks based on risk to asset, parts availability, and commercial impact
  • supporting the Planning & Scheduling team with maintaining the short-term scheduling cockpit 1-6 weeks ahead from a technical viewpoint.

To succeed in the role, you:

  • are a highly experienced and knowledgeable fault-finding technician, with previous experience as an authorised technician under Wind Turbine Safety Rules on a UK West turbine platform, preferably with knowledge of more than one turbine platform
  • are prepared to go offshore occasionally to support with troubleshooting and resolving the most ambiguous, non-standard, or complex turbine faults
  • have a vigilant and perseverant mindset to identify and thoroughly record true root causes and ensure full uptake and implementation of developed solutions
  • demonstrate strong English, written and oral, communication skills, and have good people skills
  • are an advanced IT user, confident in gathering and analysing data from various tools and software sources.

Maybe you’ve read the above and can see you have some transferable skills, even though they don’t quite match all the points. If you think you can bring something to the team, we still encourage you to apply.
