Join us as our new Postdoc for Enzyme Immobilization – Protein Chemistry & Assays
As part of R&D, you will help to find biological solutions and build new business areas that can pave the way for a brighter future. We are looking for a skilled scientist with a deep passion for innovation and studying biocatalytic systems comprising immobilized enzymes. The postdoc position is part of a new international project where you will be working closely together with internal and external collaborators developing and studying prototypes of immobilized enzymes for applications within sustainable manufacturing. The work will include, e.g., purifying and characterizing enzymes, establishing immobilization procedures, as well as designing, making and characterizing lab scale prototypes of immobilized enzymes. This will be done in collaboration with expert scientists and technicians in the department and as well as colleagues in our formulation department.

Welcome to Protein Chemistry & Assays
The area Protein Chemistry and Assays is a part of the core R&D organization in Novonesis where we work closely with colleagues across our organization, customers, partners, and the global community to create a better and more sustainable world through science and research. The area consists of three departments and this position is in the department Application Systems Analysis consisting around 25 scientists and laboratory technicians – all working at Novonesis' Innovation Campus in Lyngby. The department focuses on translating real world problems to molecular application understanding and deploying this for innovation and product development. This is achieved by combining competences within bioimaging, colloidal chemistry, modelling, biophysics and biochemistry in close collaboration with our application areas.

The department is highly international, and we are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team of different nationalities, cultures, and with versatile expertise’s. We value a good working atmosphere and have high focus on supporting each other to achieve a good work-life balance.

  • A strong scientific background with critical thinking skills, entrepreneurial mindset and ability to formulate ideas for experiments from diverse data/knowledge inputs
  • Theoretical knowledge and experimental experience working with enzymes, including enzyme purification, activity assays, chromatography, and general protein characterization (i.e., studying, e.g., protein post-translational modifications, stability, solubility or enzyme-substrate interactions)
  • Experience from working with enzyme immobilization and biocatalysis is an advantage but not a requirement
  • Experience with fluorescence microscopy and surface sensitive techniques is an advantage but not a requirement
  • Strong communication skills and ability to conclude and share own results in oral as well as in written form
  • Excellent collaboration skills with a positive attitude and a desire to achieve results together with others with a holistic mindset
  • A fundamental passion for science and molecular mechanisms of enzymes with a desire to make a difference in the world
