Materials Scientist for Films, Primary Packaging & Sustainability Tools

Coloplast

Humlebæk, DK

Job Family: Research & Development

Country/Region: Denmark

Would you like to join us in ensuring great product design that will benefit millions of people with intimate healthcare needs?

Become part of an innovative environment where the time from idea to execution is extremely short and your quest for professional and personal development will take you far.

“If you are a chemical engineer, chemist or similar with a thirst for knowledge, you’ll find yourself in a team of specialists with a wealth of experience,” says Jens Tornøe, Head of Films, Primary Packaging & Sustainability Tools.

Welcome to the team!
At our HQ in Humlebæk, Denmark, you will join the Films, Primary Packaging & Sustainability Tools team of 10 scientists. The team is part of Coloplast R&D – Product Design & Engineering which employs more than 80 scientists, engineers, and designers. We develop effective solutions within ostomy care, continence care, wound care, and bowel management to help our end-users live the life they want to live.

“Our ultimate goal is to create innovative solutions and better products for our end users. That means identifying and developing state-of-the-art polymer materials that deliver product performance second to none,” explains Jens.

Develop and define polymer solutions in cross-functional R&D projects
As a scientist in our team, you will develop and define polymer solutions for new medical device products. You will do so working in cross-functional R&D projects along with participants from our entire organisation, e.g., project managers, laboratory technicians, product designers and other scientists.

Your main responsibility will be project deliverables within polymer characterization and documentation of material properties and performance. The data you generate will form the basis for central project decisions, ensuring that we deliver on user needs.

“You’ll be in a team where your colleagues will do their best to help you succeed. Collaboration and sharing of know-how are key to us, always expanding our competences to deliver the best products possible,” says Jens.

Technical background and some experience with applied materials science
As we value constant learning, you do not need to know everything in advance. In fact, your desire to expand your toolbox will be an important factor as we look for our new colleagues. We do imagine that you:

  • Have a technical background as a chemical engineer, chemist or equivalent
  • Have some experience with applied materials science, polymer chemistry, organic chemistry or similar – and it is a plus if you have product development experience within these fields
  • Have a good understanding of statistical analysis and practices
  • May have knowledge of sustainable polymer solutions and/or experience with product documentation, e.g. within medical devices or another regulated industry
  • Are fluent in English

Interested?
If you would like to know more about the position, please call Jens Tornøe at +45 4911 1991. We take candidates into the recruitment process continuously, so do not hesitate to apply. We expect to complete the recruiting process by end of August.

Pursuing an ambitious growth agenda, Coloplast develops and markets products and services that make life easier for people with intimate healthcare needs. Employing about 16.000 people and with products available in more than 143 countries, we are one of the world´s leading medical device companies. We are constantly growing our business and always looking for new ways to move forward – we explore, learn and look for new ways of doing things.
