Can you drive continuous improvements and professionalisation of infrastructure, operations and end-user services?

SCR are on behalf of our client, Solar Group, looking for a Director of Digital Infrastructure Services to continue the professionalisation and anchoring of the infrastructure services delivery model by a hybrid team of employees and strategic partnerships.

THE COMPANY
Solar Group is a leading European sourcing and services company within electrical, heating and plumbing, ventilation and climate and energy solutions. Their core business centres on product sourcing, value-adding services and optimisation of their customers’ businesses.

3,000 employees are situated in 5 countries, and you will join at their headquarters in Vejen (Southern Denmark).

The IT solutions used in the company are based on Microsoft and SAP, and they have recently rolled out the digital workplace and moved users out of Citrix. Furthermore, the company is in the process of outsourcing significant parts of their datacenter and network operations, and more areas will likely follow.

THE POSITION
As the new Director, your goal is to create short and long-term business value applying a suited business strategy to the infrastructure and service desk functions. The functions comprise over 30 people. You will have 2 managers reporting to you and be responsible for the outsourced services within your area. You will report directly to the CIO.

The function has a clear technology mandate supported by an operating model focusing on outcome and operational stability. Your role is to ensure that the digital infrastructure services are provided in a cost-efficient, stable and scalable manner based on best practices. You will also ensure that the services continuously develop to match the business requirements for high availability in daily operations, and that it supports the vast portfolio of on-going projects.

Your main tasks are:

  • Lead and develop the team by bringing your professional experience into play.
  • Ensure professional delivery of infrastructure and end-user services.
  • Continuously develop the services through performance measurements, monitoring and dialogue with business stakeholders and peers.
  • Drive the transition from a “hands-on” to a “Managed Services” organisation.
  • Apply new technologies to drive efficiency gains across your team.
  • Ensure compliance with IT and information security policies.
  • Ensure compliance with Enterprise Architecture principles.
  • Liaise and collaborate with your peers to ensure on-time delivery of the project portfolio.
  • Develop and implement the roadmap and life-cycle management to ensure an up-to-date infrastructure platform.
  • Manage external partnerships and continuously assess and evaluate performance.
  • Overall forecasting, budgeting and financial management within your area.

THE PERSON
We are looking for a skilled IT director with some years of experience in IT services, which has included formal training and/or certifications in ITIL or ITSM.

Due to relevant professional experience, you understand the difference between scalable and costly infrastructure and can effortlessly shift between the role of decision-maker and rule-taker. You have strong working knowledge of currently accepted information security standards, guidelines and best practices. Moreover, you can balance the academic and practical work and know how to develop the capabilities in a well-performing organisation that has a lot of potential for development.

You communicate easily with all levels of an organisation and possess excellent customer service skills, including both verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.

Verbal and written language skills in English are essential for the role. A good understanding of Danish is a clear advantage.
