We are looking for
Project Researcher at the research group Russia, Ukraine and the Caucasus Regional Research (RUCARR), at the Faculty of Culture and Society, the Department of Global Political Studies. The employment period is one month.

Work duties
The project researcher will commit to conducting active research in accordance with the project outline submitted in the application and will be expected to spend the full month of the research stay in Malmö. The project researcher will present their research at a RUCARR seminar, participate in other seminars at RUCARR and Global Political Studies and will make themselves available for consultations with junior scholars and PhD candidates at the department and at the research group.

Qualifications
Those who have completed a doctoral degree or have corresponding scientific competence are eligible to be appointed as project researcher.

In addition to formal competence, University employees must possess the personal capacities necessary to perform the duties of the position well and to represent the University in the best possible way.

Specific requirements for this position:

  • PhD degree on a topic relevant to the RUCARR regional focus of research (Russia, Ukraine, the Caucasus region, including relations with adjacent countries).
  • Documented research experience aligned with current research priorities and fields of expertise among RUCARR staff.
  • Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).

The following would be of benefit for the position:

  • Additional proficiency in a language of the RUCARR region.

Assessment criteria
Expertise in the specific field relevant to the appointment in question will be the primary point of evaluation. The assessment of candidates will be based on their research proposal and their qualifications and track record as researchers. The assessment criteria are excellence of research, track record of publications and goodness of fit with RUCARR research priorities and field of competence

The Faculty of Culture and Society
The Faculty of Culture and Society is a multidisciplinary faculty that includes the School of Arts and Communication, the Department of Global Political Studies and the Department of Urban Studies. The Faculty conducts postgraduate studies in the following subjects: Global Politics, Interaction Design, International Migration and Ethnic Relations, Media and Communication Studies and Urban Studies.

The Department of Global Political Studies
The Department of Global Political Studies is a multidisciplinary research and educational environment with Bachelor programs in European Studies, Peace and Conflict Studies, International Migration and Ethnic Relations (IMER), Diversity Studies, International Relations, Human Rights, and Political Science. There are two Masters programs in IMER and Global Politics as well as two Ph.D. programmes in the same subjects. The Department’s educational programmes and research focus on global processes of change and their impact on societies and individuals. Our research environment also includes MIM (Malmö Institute for Studies of Migration, Diversity and Welfare) and the research group RUCARR (Russia, Ukraine and the Caucasus Regional Research).

The research group Russia, Ukraine and the Caucasus Regional Research (RUCARR)
The research is primarily concerned with the geographical areas of Russia, Ukraine and the Caucasus. RUCARR was established in 2016 and is an intellectual hub for scholars at the Faculty of Culture and Society, building on an established area of study that attracts international researchers and students from a variety of backgrounds.

This is a temporary, full-time (100 %) position to be held during one month. Travel expenses and accommodation in Malmö will be covered.
