The position
As Contract Specialist, you will play a key role in the contract and commercial management of the contracts. As such, you will be involved in the strategic decisions on how to approach the contractors in close collaboration with the Contract Directors and the Legal Director.
Your key tasks will be:
- Giving advice on the understanding of the provisions in the contracts
- Providing input to and advice on variations
- Providing input and advice on claims
- Support to the Contract Directors
- Support to the Tunnel Contracts Managers
- Drafting letters and agreements
- You will report to the Contract Director of the Immersed Tunnel contract and work closely with the Contract Director of the Portal and Ramps contract, the Tunnel Contracts Managers, and the Legal department.
Your profile: A dynamic and proactive Contract Specialist
You have a legal background with solid legal qualifications and proven experience from working with major civil engineering projects. You should have at least five years of experience in total. You have a thorough knowledge and understanding of Construction Law and an awareness of the FIDIC standard forms of contract.
The contract communication is in English; therefore, it is important that you have a good command of English, both in writing and orally, and a good grasp of British/International construction contract terms.
The ideal candidate will have the following key competencies and qualifications:
- Construction contract experience
- Working knowledge and understanding of Construction Law and standard forms of contract
- International experience on Civil Engineering and/or infrastructure projects, ideally on public works
- Experience with forensic claims handling, including strategies and analysis
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate contractual requirements and issues clearly
- Bilingual or full professional proficiency in English
- Enthusiastic, self-motivated and pro-active
- Well organised, with a good attention to detail

Femern A/S and its contractors are progressing with the construction of the 18 km long Fehmarnbelt tunnel between Puttgarden in Germany and Rødbyhavn in Denmark. As the project owner, Femern A/S is the company responsible for the planning, construction and operation of the Fehmarnbelt tunnel. Femern A/S is a subsidiary company of the Danish state-owned Sund & Bælt Group, which is also responsible for the Øresund Link and the Great Belt Link.
