General Job Description
As a Pricing Specialist at Blue Water Shipping, you will be responsible for generating pricing for internal and external customers. You will work with vendors, other BWS offices, and various departments to gather cost elements for pricing proposals. To achieve this, you will utilize your knowledge of the market, understanding of the lifecycle of a shipment, and communication skills to determine the best pricing to provide to customers. You will also be responsible for liaising with vendors, managing internal rate sheets, developing tools, and tracking pricing and profitability. You will operate as part of the pricing team but will be expected to use critical thinking to problem solve on your own when needed.
Individual tasks
- Receive, manage, and action requests for pricing from customers.
- Liaise with vendors to collect and compile pricing for requests in accordance with the needs of the customer.
- Develop relationships with customers and communicate to determine overall pricing performance.
- Maintain rate & reference databases.
- Perform market research and report market trends to stakeholders.
- Monitor transportation costs and work to generate value for BWS & our customers.
- Work within customer and vendor systems as needed.
- Collaborate with other BWS teams as needed to provide a seamless experience for customers.

- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Adept at working in a fast-paced, customer-oriented environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with both internal and external customers.
- Basic understanding of logistics process and methodologies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Experience using transportation management software is a plus.
Education and Work Experience
- A bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Experience in logistics, transportation or supply chain management is required.
- Prior experience with pricing, tender management, or procurement is a plus.
