Senior Laboratory Technician (Laborant) – Biophysical Protein Characterization

The position
To strengthen the biophysical analytical platform, ALK is looking for a highly skilled and curious Laboratory Technician with expertise in biophysical methods to join our molecular allergology team. The team is placed in the drug discovery department and is involved in early discovery and characterisation of new potential leads, such as allergens, antibodies and proteins. The team characterises lead candidates by applying several analytical techniques like dynamic light scattering (DLS), nano-differential scanning fluorimetry (nDSF), circular dichroism (CD), and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) development.

Your primary tasks will be:

• Perform biophysical analysis including DLS, nDSF, and CD, to assess protein size, stability, and folding properties.
• Conduct stability studies to evaluate the impact of storage conditions and formulation on protein integrity.
• Develop, optimize and run HPLC methods for protein analysis, ensuring robust separation, resolution, and quantification.
• Collaborate with scientists to support pre-formulation studies, formulation development, and protein engineering.
• Generate accurate and detailed documentation of experimental protocols, data analysis, and results in Electronic lab book notes.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, and safety standards.

Your profile
We expect that you have a minimum of 5 years of experience as a Laboratory Technician, preferable in research or early-stage development.

Furthermore, you have:

• Strong expertise in techniques such as DLS, nDSF, CD, and HPLC.
• Familiarity with pre-formulation studies and protein formulation development is advantageous.
• Experience in Chromeleon will be an advantage.
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills, enabling precise and accurate data analysis.
• A proactive and innovative approach, as well as adaptability in a dynamic research environment.
• Team player mentality, promoting effective collaboration and knowledge sharing within a multidisciplinary team.
