The Centre for Quantum Mathematics (QM) at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, University of Southern Denmark (SDU) invites applications for a 2-year position as Postdoctoral Fellow with expertise in the field of generalized categorical symmetries and other exotic symmetries such as subsystem and dipole symmetries. In particular, in the applications of these symmetries to quantum lattice models.

The targeted starting date of the position is 1 November, 2024, or as soon as possible thereafter.

The QM centre is located at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, Faculty of Natural Sciences on the international campus in Odense, Denmark. QM is established with the ambition to create a highly international and interdisciplinary group within a broad spectrum of pure mathematics and mathematical physics. Job description / requirements
A successful candidate will drive internationally competitive research, collaborate with the world community in the field. The candidate is expected to contribute to QM’s excellent research and teaching environment. The candidate must have a PhD degree in mathematical physics or theoretical physics.

The candidate must further have an emerging research track in the field. We are seeking a highly motivated candidate, who work and communicate well in an international team. The candidate must be able to carry out independent and rigorous work at top international level.

The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). Please check links for more information on salary and taxation.

  • A curriculum vitae including information on previous employment
  • A full list of publications stating the scientific publications on which the applicant wishes to rely
  • Copy of PhD diploma, MSc and PhD) - Danish or English. If phd diploma has not yet been received, please include statement from your supervisor

Shortlisting may be used in the assessment process. Shortlisted applicants will be assessed by an assessment committee. Applicants will be informed of their assessment by the Faculty. As part of the overall assessment, the applicant may be called for interview.

To qualify you must have passed a PhD or equivalent. Applications will be assessed by an expert assessor/committee. Applicants will be informed of their assessment by the university.
