Laboratory Technologist

Cryos International, a leading international gamete bank with headquarters in Denmark, is seeking a highly motivated Laboratory Technologist to fill a part-time position in our location in Nicosia, Cyprus. In close collaboration with a team of dedicated Cryos colleagues, the key elements within this position are:

Main Responsibilities & Duties:

• Recruitment, reception and counselling of donors and client depositors
• Registration, analysis, handling and cryo-preservation of semen samples
• General laboratory duties and maintenance including constructing, maintaining and operating standard laboratory equipment i.e., centrifuges, microscopes and fume hoods
• Carrying out routine tasks accurately and following strict methodologies to carry out analyses
• Responsible for processing, storage, shipping and tracking of tissue bank specimens
• Organize work by matching computer orders with specimen labelling, sorting specimens, verifying labelling, logging specimens, arranging reports for delivery, keeping work surfaces clean and orderly
• Maintain donor and patient confidence by keeping laboratory information confidential
• When/if properly trained, blood collection, requisition preparation, responsible for scheduling batch closes and packing of collection kits
• Participate in donor testing and assure results are recorded in CryoBase
• Quality Control
• Stock handling and alerting line manager of production stock needs
• Identifies and communicates substandard donor specimens by alerting the line manager
• Ensure production goals are met
• Participate in various projects as agreed with management
• Perform other duties as assigned

The ideal candidate will have the following experience:

• Batchelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences or related field
• Highly proficient Greek and English languages
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Positive attitude and ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in an international company
• Prior experience within fertility is not required as training will be provided, but would be considered an advantage
• Previous working experience in a laboratory setting will be considered an advantage

The position applies both for candidates of part-time and/or student assistants basis.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a team and with Cryos donor candidates of different nationalities, pays attention to detail and complies with company standards of high quality. A level of flexibility to adjust to the changing priorities of the organization will be considered an advantage. Once trained under the direction of Laboratory Manager you will be able to work systematically and independently.
