At Hyme, we aim to ensure a world where sustainable energy is always available. To be successful, we need engaged and talented people to help us design and develop our grid-scale thermal energy storage solution based on molten salts.
Our thermal energy storage (TES) includes an electrically heated molten salt loop, to store excess renewable electricity at temperatures of up to 700°C, prior to on-demand release as high-pressure/temperature steam for electrical power / combined heat and power production.
THE ROLE
Hyme is looking for a talented Lab Technician who is both a team player and self-driven and who thrives in a diverse and challenging job. You will be a part of Hyme’s R&D Department and help build up our lab facilities, assist in running our test equipment, and perform postmortem analysis on test specimens. You will be responsible for preparing samples, collecting data, executing various standard procedures, and maintaining good laboratory practices.
The start-up environment allows for great influence and the possibility to take on responsibility and growth but also demands flexibility.
KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Micro-preparation: Micro-preparation (cutting, embedding, polishing, grinding) of material samples for microscopy analysis
- Operating Test Equipment: Operating test equipment together with specialists and other lab technicians
- Postmortem Analysis: Performing postmortem analysis on test samples, such as corrosion rate determination
- Procurement: Procurement of consumables and chemicals
- Support Maintenance: Assist in laboratory equipment maintenance and calibration
- Routine Laboratory Tasks: Execution of routine laboratory tasks such as but not limited to equipment cleaning, decontamination after experiments, chemical segregation, chemical waste disposal and maintenance of equipment logs.
- Procedure Development: Support the team in the development of procedures to run the laboratory efficiently
- SOP Management: Writing, execution, and improvement of standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Safety Facilitation: Help facilitate a safe laboratory environment
PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES
Educational Background:
- Laboratory Technician education, Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, or similar technical training
Preferred Experiences:
- Practical laboratory experience
- Experience with micro-preparation equipment
- Experience with Danish regulations on laboratory work (e.g. Arbejdstilsynet)
- Experience working with hazardous chemicals (e.g. NaOH)
- Characterization techniques experience such as SEM, LOM, etc. is an advantage
Preferred Certifications:
- Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) or other relevant GXP certification
- Epoxy and isocyanates certification is needed, but certification courses can be provided
