The associate professorship is affiliated with the SDU NanoSYD Centre in Sønderborg. The starting date is 1.October 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The Mads Clausen Institute covers research and education spanning from foundations to applications of engineering science. Most of our courses are taught in English reflecting the fact that more than half of our students and staff are internationals. SDU NanoSYD with about 25 coworkers is located at SDU's beautiful campus in Sønderborg, in the inspiring building of Alsion, which is a centre for science, culture and learning in the heart of Sønderborg and perched on the strait of water separating the island of Als from the mainland. The university has very close relations to industries in Sønderborg, Southern Denmark and Northern Germany.

Within the last five years, the NanoSYD Centre has excelled in the development and upscaling of digital microfluidics and integrated sensing technologies. We foresee the new associate professor to play a key part in expanding this direction into sustainable technologies based on the use and characterization of green materials and processing techniques with both academic and industrial partners.

The associate professor is expected to lead research and publication activities within the areas of microfluidics and sensing for various application areas. She or he will teach courses within relevant teaching programs on undergraduate, graduate and PhD levels, and she/he will supervise corresponding students as well as postdoctoral researchers.

The ideal candidate has established her/his own field and is in a position to attract funding through national and international research programmes, including industrial project partners. Ideally, she/he has experience with supervision at different educational levels, and has also experience with teaching of undergraduate students.
