Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate to protect, advocate and promote durable solutions for displacement affected populations.
DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently DRC employs over 700 staff in Ukraine and will continue significant scale-up in 2024 to implement emergency response in the Protection, Economic Recovery, Shelter/NFIs and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors, using direct interventions, support to duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships with CSOs. DRC will continue and adapt its durable solutions portfolio to the evolving context.
DRC is currently looking for a Deminer based in Mykolaiv and other regions.

About the job
Deminer is appointed and dismissed by the order of the Head of Humanitarian Mine Action Team Lead (Demining).
Direct supervisor: Humanitarian Mine Action Supervisor – Demining Supervisor
Deminer is guided in his/her work by this job description, standard operating procedures (hereinafter referred to as the SOP), and the current regulations of the Representative Office of the Danish Refugee Council in Ukraine (hereinafter referred to as the DRC)
Permit for independent work of Deminer is carried out after training and checking knowledge of the SOP.
Your main duties and responsibilities will be:
Considering the specifics of work in the field of humanitarian demining, the general rules, methods and technologies by which humanitarian demining is carried out are described in detail in the SOP, according to which the deminer must:
- Arrive for work on time and wearing the DRC HDP uniform.
- Ensure that their clearance equipment is in good working order prior to leaving the CP.
- Ensure that they are wearing the appropriate PPE prior to leaving the CP.
- Remove mobile phones and all metal and jewelry prior to daily operation.
- Conduct their work in a safe manner and as by the DRC HDP SOPs.
- Inform the TL when discovering a suspected EO by raising their arm and calling out “STOP”.
- Ensure that all equipment is maintained on a daily basis prior to departing the CP.
- Be directly responsible and accountable for their issued equipment at all times.
- Report any malfunctions or damage to equipment to the TL immediately.
- Participate in training as instructed by the DS/TA/TMF and QM unit.
- Carry out other tasks as dictated by changing circumstances or as required by the TL.
- Conduct any additional assignments from Team Lead and /or Demining Supervisor.

About you
To be successful in this role we expect you to have Secondary Education and Vocational Education or Secondary Education and Professional training in a relevant organization, without work experience. Moreover, we also expect the following:
Required
Language Skills: Fluent in Ukrainian
Computer skills: Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (with focus on Excel and Word).
Desirable
Language Skills: intermediate level in English.

We offer
Contract length: 3 months with possibility of extension based on available funding.

Designation of Duty Station: Mykolaiv or other regions
Start date: September 2024.
