Responsibilities and qualifications
Research within the Section for Business Development is focused on business development, finance, innovation strategy, business model innovation, managerial economics, and managerial accounting. The section is currently building up research capacity with the ambition to host an international environment for research and teaching within the broad area of business development. Research in the section is generally cross-disciplinary bridging various aspects of management and engineering to provide new insights into economic aspects of technology implementation.

Faculty members have backgrounds in management, economics, sociology, political science, and engineering. The section emphasizes a solid though pluralistic approach to research methodology including both quantitative and quantitative empirical methods. Core research areas of the Section include topics such as economic aspects of implementing new green technologies, green finance, new market creation, green business model innovation, social and environmental sustainability, how to embed management perspectives into engineering educational programs, etc.

The Section focuses on addressing the challenges and opportunities in business development faced by firms in evolving conditions, emphasizing sustainability and digital transformation. We collaborate with a diverse range of organizations, including large enterprises and SMEs, across both the public and private sector. These collaborations provide insight into the challenges faced by practitioners when implementing new technologies and the particular emphasis on SMEs provides unique insights into their dynamic environments.

Our Department and Section prioritize research and teaching that are closely aligned with practical applications. Candidates with practical experience through prior occupations outside of academia are welcome. Skills in both quantitative and qualitative empirical research are valuable, as is the ability to connect with the Department's technically focused research areas and industry participants. The Section for Business Development provides teaching and supervision across undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education programs in economics, business administration, leadership, sustainability, and digitalization.

Responsibilities

  • Advancing the Department's research agenda on business economic aspects of technology implementation and strengthening its international position
  • Developing courses and teaching, teaching, and supervising at Beng, MSc, and continuing education
  • Actively participating in departmental and section activities, such as meetings, seminars, and conferences
  • Initiating, attracting funding for, and coordinating research projects

To meet the position's requirements, the applicant is expected to be regularly present and actively involved in teaching and research activities within the Section and Department.

Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. or equivalent qualification
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken
  • Demonstrated teaching expertise in the areas relevant to the Section
  • Pedagogical qualifications and competencies in educational innovation including course development and instruction across different audiences
  • A collaborative spirit and enthusiasm for interdisciplinary work

Candidates should have a keen interest in collaborating with Section and Departmental colleagues in research and teaching to foster a vibrant academic culture.

You must be responsible for the teaching of courses. DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both.

As formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding an assistant professorship and documented didactic/pedagogic training.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.

Starting date is 1 December 2024 (or according to mutual agreement). The position is a full-time position.
