Automation Engineer Denmark
Makeen Energy A/S
MAKEEN EnviroTech is looking into an exciting future, and we are searching for an Automation Engineer to join our team! You will bridge our process descriptions and software development, ensuring harmonic software implementation for our plastic waste recycling technology, Plastcon.
Meet the MAKEEN Envirotech team
Welcome to MAKEEN EnviroTech! We are a group of 50 highly specialised engineers, and we are passionate about developing technologies that address environmental challenges. One of those is Plastcon, where we have created an innovative solution to recycle plastic waste. And we have also come up with a way to turn old wind turbine blades into glass fibre that is as good as new.
The industry has shown huge interest in our Plastcon technology over the last couple of years, so we are growing FAST. As we are writing this, we are well underway in bringing our first full-scale plant to life in Randers, Denmark – and we are incredibly excited about it!
Since we are the newest department in MAKEEN Energy, our products and solutions are also new – both for the market and for our company. Our team is driven by a true start-up mentality where the path from “can we do it?” to “let’s do it!” is very short. If you want to know more about what we do, take a look here:

What does the Automation Engineer do?
In your role of Automation Engineer, you are part of a smaller and dedicated team that covers multiple simultaneous projects. Together, you create, maintain, and communicate crucial lists and documentation that are the basis for detailed design work, both internal and external.
Collaboration is key, as you'll work with various engineering disciplines to ensure that process design requirements are well-documented and communicated for instrumentation, electrical engineering, and external stakeholders.
The Automation team also covers:
- Proactively looking into control solutions and limitations together with the process and instrumentation team
- Creating needed documentation for other stakeholders (automation, instrumentation, and electrical)
- Proactively searching for win-win solutions when going from theory to real-world controls and regulation solutions
- Technical interface towards software engineers

Who are we looking for?
The ideal candidate for this position has a bachelor's degree and a background in automation. If you have a different education, that is fine – as long as you can prove your experience with the described tasks and responsibilities.
Minimum +3 years of experience from working with automation in process industry. If you also have practical experience with big and complex process systems, we will welcome you with open arms! Maybe you have even worked with designing control loops and regulators?
Here are some other things we prioritise:
- Strong organisational and written communication skills.
- Experience with ERP systems
- Familiarity with network and high-level controls
- Experience with creating and maintaining software documentation
- Knowledge of SAT documentation
We value that you are a strong-team player who bridges disciplines in understanding process and implementation. We look for these characteristics:
- Self-driven and proactive
- Ability to work independently and under own responsibility.
- Structured and focused on product over project solutions
- Interest in developing our automation documentation package
- Ability to inspire, drive, and challenge external partners in their development and quality assurance
We encourage you to apply even if you cannot fulfil 100% of this wish list. You might have other valuable skills or experiences that we could use – let us know!
And what’s in it for you?
As a new MAKEENer, we welcome you into an informal working environment with room for people of all kinds and backgrounds. You will join your colleagues in the Mechanical team, and they are looking forward to sharing their knowledge with you and help you hit the ground running. In your first weeks here, you will participate in a detailed onboarding and introduction process to MAKEEN Energy. We want you to feel at home as soon as possible – not just within the EnviroTech division, but in the whole MAKEEN Energy group.
