We are looking for a Power Trader to join our ambitious US Physical Power Trading team with experienced colleagues, who strive to be the best every day.
The job as Power Trader
As our new Power Trader, you will become part of a professional and dedicated team. Our team is committed to ensuring the highest earnings while evaluating the risk versus potential of return. Our team contributes with a high focus on developing and enhancing the current and future physical trading activities of MFT Energy in the North American market.
The team consists of experienced traders dedicated to success. Your work areas will include assisting in developing profitable trading strategies, offering back-up on all critical tasks and processes, and ensuring all tasks have a positive value contribution to MFT Energy. You will be reporting directly to the Director of North American Trading.
Your key responsibilities
- Responsible for generating profits in the North American power markets through proprietary trading by taking independent action that is supported by research.
- Responsible for analyzing real-time market information such as weather, load, outages, etc.
- Adhere to all administrative and compliance standards and procedures as directed by the compliance, risk management, and legal departments.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and potential changes that may affect the markets.
- Collaborate and mentor key stakeholders, including but not limited to junior traders and the back-office department.
Your qualifications and personal skills
- 5+ years of experience and a deep knowledge of fundamentals of physical and financial power markets.
- Skilled in SQL and can write production-grade code.
- Great knowledge of transmission and scheduling rules within North America.
- Culture of compliance and understanding of all market rules and regulations.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills for financial modeling and risk assessment.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced trading environment.
- A positive and competitive attitude, but at the same time a valued team player.
- Emotional discipline and the ability to manage stress during market fluctuations.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in trading activities.
