Department Manager – Software Development

The job
As Department Manager, you’ll lead a team of 16 skilled software developers responsible for the application layer of DEIF’s controller products. The software language used is mainly C++. It’s crucial that you know how to balance agile customer driven development and long-term platform-based development and alignment, while also taking an active part in the creation and maintenance of our continuous integration setup as well as our agile ways of working.

Key Responsibilities

• Set the direction for software design, development, testing, and deployment.
• Mentor and develop your team’s technical and personal skills, fostering growth and innovation within the R&D organisation.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Architects, and other department managers to understand requirements and articulate technical solutions.
• Support our agile project setup.
• Ensuring continuous improvement and effective cross-team collaboration.

The person
We are looking for a person who is deeply committed to people development and achieving results through collaboration and good leadership. You may have experience in project management with a desire to step into a people management role, or you might already have some experience in leading teams. Regardless, you have a strong technical background, a relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree in software, electronics, or system engineering, and experience in embedded software development.

You excel in building partnerships, managing complexity, and making decisions. Strong communication skills and a motivation to achieve both immediate and long-term goals are key to your success in this role.
