Job Description

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead the change and be a capability builder bringing technical knowledge to the Procurement teams for data driven negotiations through the use of Cost Engineering data in the relevant categories that determine fair and reasonable pricing
  • Build and deliver Should Cost estimates on plastic injection moulds and carry out market index analysis for mould raw materials comparing to the calculation models that you will deliver
  • To support in the development of a Mould Should Cost calculation tool for LEGO Group with an understanding of IT system requirements and the “make-up” of a Should Cost
  • To be the voice of value of money for plastic injection moulds from negotiation with existing suppliers to identifying design improvements on new moulds
  • Hold workshops with our moulding suppliers on cost idea generation using Should Cost data to identify major cost drivers and areas of waste/ opportunity
  • Submit cost opportunities with buyers into the annual cost reduction planning
  • A strong communicator with outstanding partner management skills bringing cross functions together to realize further cost savings from the data created

Play your part in our team succeeding
Cost Engineering is a key department within Global Procurement. It is primarily passionate about the development of ground up Should Cost calculations to support Procurement in identifying cost opportunities ultimately ensuring value for money is achieved. The department also has a key role in improving the cost capability of buyers. We will also play a key role the future calculation CO2 for our supply base.

The department is the technical side of the Procurement function, is data driven, and its insights also provide cost data for financial forecasting and product development choices. The Department initially touches categories in Europe, Singapore, North America, Southeast Asia and China. Achieving reasonable levels of cost and CO2 in our supply base adds to the sustainable growth of the organization.

You will have a pivotal role in supporting our procurement and Mould Engineering teams by applying your Mould design and process knowledge to develop first time calculations and evaluate new opportunities for reduction in the supply base. You will also use the data to calculate carbon output as part of our full Life Cycle Assessment (LCA).

Do you have what it takes?

  • A highly motivated individual with a strong background in Engineering or Manufacturing, backed up with solid exposure to tooling or mould costing.
  • Strong experience in costing environment including an understanding of finance and supply chain in the creation of a Should Cost.
  • Experiences of production processes and effect of volumes and location on moulds and an understanding of market indices and experience of using market rates in cost calculations
  • Strong analytical skills, good technique in and understanding of Cost Estimating principles to guide the team to successful data generation and supplier negotiation
  • Able to interpret data and bring to an effective conclusion
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, self-confidence and a 'passion for the product' as well as a relentless spirit with a collaborative approach.
