PharmaRelations is excited to once again partner with a trusted collaborator - Ipsen. This time, we are seeking a candidate who envisions themselves stepping into the role of Nordic MSL for Rare Liver Disease, especially with an upcoming launch on the horizon. You will work alongside a committed team of highly skilled medical experts. We are looking for someone who excels at creating opportunities - someone with a creative and persistent approach to get into contact with KOLs and to spark curiosity. This role requires resilience and the ability to engage effectively in challenging situations with customers.

What´s in it for you?
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based expert within the affiliate medical department, specializing in scientific, clinical, and therapeutic areas. The MSL supports non-promotional medical and scientific initiatives in coordination with the medical team to achieve departmental goals. In this position, the MSL identifies local opportunities through the network and knowledge of Rare Liver Disease, contributing to the development and implementation of scientific and clinical plans.

It is important to highlight that this MSL role will focus on launching a new product in the area of Rare Liver Disease. The position will involve gathering insights and challenging existing treatment options across all Nordic countries. The ideal candidate has previous MSL experience and is interested in covering the entire region. Extensive travel will be required, especially at the start, to establish relationships. As a field-based role, you can be located in any Nordic country.

Main responsibilities

  • Maintaining and Sharing Scientific Knowledge: Keep updated on Rare Liver Disease, specifically cholestasis and Primary Biliary Cholangitis, through literature, conferences, and expert discussions. Share relevant knowledge with healthcare professionals (HCPs) in compliance with laws.
  • Identifying Unmet Medical Needs: Contribute to recognizing unmet needs in Rare Diseases and provide transparent medical and scientific exchanges in disease management.
  • Database Management: Maintain a medical profiling database of HCPs, thought leaders (TLs), and sources of clinical and scientific expertise. Track needs for scientific information and identify opportunities to fulfill them.
  • Building Relationships: Establish and nurture strong relationships with TLs and medical experts, aligning with Medical Affairs and Brand Team strategies.
  • Scientific Collaboration: Engage in scientific exchanges, share insights on current practices, and identify opportunities for collaboration.
  • Involvement in Clinical Research: Support internal medical reviews, process Investigator Sponsored Study (ISS) requests, and assist in evaluating potential research sites and investigators.
  • Ethics and Compliance: Ensure all activities are compliant with Ipsen SOPs, policies, directives, and national guidelines.

Key tasks

  • Communicating medical and educational objectives for Rare Liver Disease products, aligned with IPSEN’s regional strategy.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Thought Leaders, Healthcare Professionals, and Formulary Decision Makers.
  • Facilitating educational, informational, and research activities for healthcare professionals regarding IPSEN’s therapies.
  • Ensuring the scientific and technical needs of medical affairs and commercial teams are met in collaboration with IPSEN colleagues.
  • Accurately documenting activities in compliance with regulations and SOPs.

Education

  • Advanced degree in life sciences (M.Sc. or Ph.D) or medical graduate (MD)
  • Biomedical, Scientific University education ideally to post-graduate degree level -e.g. MSc, PhD, MD, PharmD
  • Medical/paramedical Practice or Research career (hospital and/or hospital related, university research, pharmaceutical industry research or medical affairs)
  • Ideally proven experience and successful track record as an MSL or medical department professional in a previous company
  • Language: Expert/fluent communicator in a Nordic (Swedish, Norwegian, Danish) language and excellent knowledge of written and spoken scientific English
  • Working knowledge of the relevant Code of Practice .

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry, preferably as a MSL
  • Scientific and/or clinical experience in the Rare Disease Field and/or Hepatology field
  • Demonstrated skills at building and maintaining professional relationships with key customers, to be creative in build interest, office staff and others in the customer influence network
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in matrix teams
