Description
Galileo System Security Verification Engineer in the Galileo System Security Implementation Unit, Galileo System Security Service, Galileo Project Office, Galileo and EGNOS Programme Department, Directorate of Navigation.

The Galileo System Security Service is in charge of security-related activities for Galileo core infrastructure, including end-to-end system security engineering, design and development of Galileo Public Regulated Service (PRS) infrastructure, security accreditation and cyber security.

The Galileo System Security Implementation Unit is responsible for the segment security requirements implementation and system security qualification of the Galileo core infrastructure.

Duties
Reporting to the Head of the Galileo System Security Implementation Unit, your main tasks will include:

  • contributing to the system security integration and verification plan, addressing, in particular, the verification of the Galileo system security functions;
  • defining the system security test cases and allocation to the various test platforms (factory, security test beds, integration chain and validation chain);
  • defining high-level system security test procedures for each system security test case;
  • organising and managing test readiness reviews, post-test reports and test review boards for Galileo system security functions;
  • participating in the Galileo System Verification Control Board to endorse the verification control document and, in particular, to integrate the results of the verification of the Galileo security functions;
  • contributing to the definition of the migration strategy for each Galileo system build and its associated system deployment plan;
  • preparing the Galileo system qualification review classified data package and contributing to or organising the review for the security part;
  • providing dedicated support to the Galileo System AIV and Deployment Service (NAV-PGD) in the areas of system security activities and system qualification;
  • supporting the overall Galileo System Security Service objectives, such as contributions to the mission level study and accreditation dossier.

Education
A master’s degree in a relevant domain is required for this post.

Additional requirements
You should be able to demonstrate that you can work in a fast-paced environment and handle pressure as may typically occur in a project team. You should be result-oriented, able to set priorities, and capable of presenting practical solutions both orally and in writing.
You should have good interpersonal and communication skills. You should have the ability to work autonomously, effectively, and cooperatively in a diverse, international team environment, defining and implementing solutions in line with team and individual objectives and project deadlines. You should also have good technical, analytical, organisational, and reporting skills, a proactive attitude to solving problems and an interest in innovative technologies.

Important Information and Disclaimer
In principle, recruitment will be within the advertised grade band (A2-A4). However, if the selected candidate has less than four years of relevant professional experience following the completion of the master’s degree, the position may be filled at A1 level.

Applicants must be eligible to access technology and hardware which is subject to European and US export control regulations and for security clearance by their national security administrations.

During the recruitment process, the Agency may request applicants to undergo selection tests. Additionally, successful candidates will need to undergo basic screening before appointment, which will be conducted by an external background screening service, in compliance with the European Space Agency's security procedures.

Note that ESA is in the process of transitioning to a Matrix setup, which could lead to organisational changes affecting this position.
