Postdoc in Adaptive Foam Dressing for Undisturbed Wound Healing – DTU Chemical Engineering

Danmarks Tekniske Universitet (DTU)

We are working on developing a novel wound care product, a glycerol-silicone foam, which provides an optimal healing environment for cavity wounds. This technology can potentially improve wound healing and the quality of life of patients suffering from chronic wounds.
If you are passionate about research and are eager to work on a project that makes an impact on society, this opportunity is right here in front of you. At DTU in The Danish Polymer Centre, you will be able to work on developing a novel technology, which can improve the quality of life for patients.

Globally, close to 50 million people are suffering from chronic wounds and the number is steadily increasing. The perseverance of chronic wounds is due to wound healing being a cascade of complex processes. Our solution is an adaptive foam with glycerol-silicone technology, which provides an optimal healing environment in the wound bed.

In our enthusiastic team, you will be able to use your creativity and expertise to increase your fundamental knowledge of silicone foams and develop both the technical and commercial parts of the project, including regulatory approaches. This position is an excellent opportunity to learn how to put research ideas into practice and get a better understanding of business-based thinking and commercialization as we are working on laying down the foundation for a new start-up company.

Responsibilities and qualifications
Your overall focus will be to strengthen the department’s competences within the research and development field and conduct experimental work in the project.

You will work with nearby colleagues, and with a highly competent team with expertise from various fields, e.g., medical, commercial, regulatory etc.

Your primary task will be to:

  • To review and process standards and regulations
  • To set up the regulatory framework of the product
  • To design experiments
  • To conduct experimental work
  • Teach and supervise BSc and MSc student projects, and be co-supervisor for PhD students

As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).
