A clinical position as Data scientist at the Department of Clinical Physiology and Nuclear Medicine at Copenhagen University Hospital - Rigshospitalet is open for appointment from as soon as possible.

The position is combined with a 5-year externally funded position as clinical professor of Clinical Physiology and Nuclear medicine at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.

It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the position as Data scientist.

About the department
The Department of Clinical Physiology and Nuclear Medicine at Copenhagen University Hospital – Rigshospitalet offers diagnostic investigations in close cooperation with clinical departments at Rigshospitalet, encompassing a wide range of diagnostic options ranging from classical physiologic examinations to advanced nuclear medicine techniques.

We are a dynamic department focusing on research, development, education and implementation of the latest diagnostic investigations for patients. The department is located at Blegdamsvej and Glostrup and has more than 200 staff which includes 4 professors and approximately 30 PhD students. Technical data driven research and development in imaging is insured by a close cooperation with The Danish Technical University with focus in bioengineering as well as the University of Copenhagen. Furthermore, the department actively drives a center for AI and medical imaging through a joint venture with the Department of Radiology.

Clinical functions and focus areas of the department
The data scientist will have to fully support the diagnostic workflow of NM- imaging, optimizing protocols, facilitation advanced imaging and analysis procedures including implementation of artificial intelligence-based methods in accordance with GDPR and the Medical Device Regulation directive. Supervision of hardware infrastructure and methods development is an integral part of the position. The candidate should have a strong research profile, engage in supervision and become an integral part of the senior staff within the department.

Interdisciplinary collaboration is very important for the clinical workflow, so the candidate must have shown ability to collaborate effectively with clinicians, physicists, technologists, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of data science solutions into the clinical workflow. Collaboration with international research groups and industry is expected.

The data scientist is expected to be present in the Department of Nuclear Medicine for work related to the clinical routine approx. 50% of working hour.

Research and teaching
With the new position as data scientist at department of nuclear medicine and clinical professorship of Clinical Physiology and Nuclear Medicine with special focus on data analysis, image quality and dose optimization, the Department of Clinical Physiology and Nuclear Medicine wishes to strengthen leadership in clinical research and teaching.

Qualifications
The candidate is expected to hold a master’s degree (preferably PhD) in computer science, physics, bioengineering or a similar degree with strong focus on data science and image analysis. The successful candidate should have a documented research track record within the field of Nuclear Medicine, with focus on PET, medical imaging and AI.

Conditions
In order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the staff position) for the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who are already employed at Copenhagen University Hospital - Rigshospitalet.

Salary and conditions of employment are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Unions of academic personal and between the Capital Region/Region Zealand and University of Copenhagen.

As clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g., research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement with the head of department of Clinical Physiology and Nuclear Medicine. The clinical professor will receive secretarial or technical support in accordance with the professor agreement. Additional support and details on the working conditions must be negotiated with the head of the department of Clinical Physiology and Nuclear Medicine, Copenhagen University Hospital - Rigshospitalet.
