Senior Package Manager, WTG (international position)

Advising on offshore wind projects for one of the world’s leading consultants within the renewable industry.
The WTG Package Manager leads the technical, contractual, and project management aspects of the Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) packages for offshore wind farm projects. This role involves overseeing the design, procurement, manufacturing, installation, commissioning, and handover of wind turbines to the operations team. The WTG Package Manager will ensure the project complies with industry regulations, meets safety and environmental standards, and is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

You may also find yourself supporting other departments such as Due Diligence, providing technical expertise to the team evaluating project technical aspects against industry standards for bankability, constructability, and operability.

We experience a rapid growth in the demand from developers and suppliers for our specialised services renewable energy, in established and new markets all over the world, and in particular an increased demand for package management support to manage all WTG related matters in our offshore projects.

Depending on your location, you will be working out of one of our global offices with a hybrid set up, where you will be assigned to support one or more of our offshore projects globally. You will be functionally reporting to our Director, Project Management located in the UK, and you will become part of a highly dedicated and skilled team. What you’ll be doing:
As WTG Package Manager, you will be a central member of a highly dynamic team with exposure to clients and projects around the world. Typical tasks and areas of responsibility will include:

WTG package management

  • Provide clients advice and support and where required, lead the design, procurement, manufacturing, construction, and commissioning of the WTG package.
  • Work alongside procurement to develop and manage bidding strategies, draft tender documents, and finalise PSA (Preferred Supplier Agreement) and TSA (Turbine Supply Agreement) contracts. This will include the comprehensive evaluation of options available and consideration of all emerging technology and other value improvement opportunities to support the development of a fully optimised Business Case.
  • When required, act as the main point of contact with WTG suppliers, handling contractual, technical, planning, and cost control communications.
  • Ensure fulfilment of contractual requirements and where necessary manage the overall responsibility for the Turbine Supply Agreement.
  • Conduct WTG and associated technology reviews for clients.
  • Oversee the design process in collaboration with the engineering team, ensuring technical specifications are met and compatible with other project components.
  • Monitor the manufacturing process, manage factory acceptance tests, and ensure quality control throughout the supply chain.
  • Supervise turbine installation and commissioning, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and technical standards.

Project and Interface Management:

  • Oversee and manage the WTG package budget, schedule, quality, and risks, ensuring alignment with the overall project goals.
  • Where necessary identify resource needs and secure resources with relevant competencies for all package scopes.
  • Lead project meetings, coordinate with other project stakeholders, and facilitate collaboration across project teams.
  • Develop and maintain project management documentation, including scope, budget, resources, program, quality, HSE, communication, and risk management plans.
  • Ensure continuous control and reporting of progress, time, and cost.
  • Provide regular updates on project status to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage interfaces between the WTG package and other project packages, supporting decision-making processes and ensuring seamless integration.
  • Identify, analyse, and manage project risks, developing contingency plans to address potential issues.
  • Share lessons learned and best practices, contributing to continual improvement initiatives.

About you:

  • You hold a relevant (electrical, mechanical, or automation engineering) educational background at either bachelor’s or master’s level combined with 10+ years of professional experience in offshore wind project execution specifically in wind turbine supply and installation.
  • Extensive experience in WTG tendering, development of employer requirements supplier selection, contract negotiation, and management of turbine supply agreements.
  • Knowledge of wind turbine design, manufacturing, and installation processes, with specific expertise in offshore environments.
  • Strong project management skills, with experience in coordinating cross-functional teams and managing complex projects.
  • A project manager certificate preferred (e.g. PMI, IPMA or Prince2)
  • Strong understanding of the construct of contracts and terms and conditions
  • Extensive experience in identifying, drafting and agreeing contract amendments / Variations
  • Experience and understanding of planning tools (e.g. MSP, Primavera)
  • You possess excellent communication skills in English, enabling you to present and communicate complex matters in a professional and straightforward way, also in writing.
  • Ability to travel to meet the project- or client needs
  • You must be eligible to work in one of the countries with a K2 Management entity
