Project Developer

Join us in this role where you’ll develop onshore renewable energy projects including wind, solar and energy storage. You’ll manage the deliverables of consultants to ensure planning applications are lodged on time and in budget. You’ll monitor the business case and manage project risks and lead the planning consents element post-planning ensuring a smooth transition to the Delivery team. Additionally, you’ll report on project updates, risks, programme and budget to keep senior management informed and engage with a wide variety of external stakeholders to inform and de-risk the project development.

You’ll be part of Project Development where you, together with your colleagues, will manage the development of onshore renewable projects from any stage to get it to a ready to build state. As a team, we collaborate, share experience-based knowledge, and embrace learning opportunities for continuous improvement. You’ll play an important role in:
- working with Project Development team colleagues and other technical staff in scoping, preparing, reviewing and managing consultants to submit detailed planning and environmental assessment reports such as Planning applications, Environmental Impact Assessment Reports, Appropriate Assessments, An Bord Pleanála Appeals and Planning Compliance Submissions to Local Authorities
- working within a multidisciplinary team to produce and disseminate detailed reports which assess the commercial feasibility of sites for development which will include: landcover and topographical studies, financial models, environmental constraints assessments such as ecology & ornithology, flooding, aviation, telecommunications and visual impact etc.
- assisting in ensuring that all statutory and other external and internal approvals are obtained for ongoing projects within the Development and Operations divisions
- managing and reporting on all project risks, ensuring leadership is kept fully informed of any significant developments
- developing and managing project expenditure and budgeting, assisting in the preparation of business cases for investment expenditure and presenting to senior management for investment approval
- liaising with external stakeholders e.g., planning authorities, community relations, statutory consultees and landowners.
To succeed in the role, you:
- hold a degree in engineering, sciences, planning, or similar
- are an experienced renewable energy professional with a demonstrable track record of successfully managing the development of multiple projects, with a focus on pre consent stage
- you have proven experience of management and coordination of Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIAR)
- possess in-depth knowledge of Irish planning regulations and policies, as well as a solid understanding of the concerns of key decision-makers and policymakers
- you have an understanding of what makes a consented renewable energy project commercially viable
- you have excellent written and verbal communication as well as experience with Microsoft office and GIS applications.
