The position
As a Director of the Technology Innovation Department, you will be responsible for elevating and establishing the value of technology innovation within CMC Drug Product & Analytical Development by successfully implementing cutting-edge solutions across digitalization, automation, robotics, and IT infrastructure and also driving the automation agenda across Novo Nordisk. This includes ensuring the reliability and robustness of the implemented solutions to meet the Novo Nordisk’s strategic goals. Moreover, you will lead three teams of dedicated and diverse employees.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Spearheading the digitalization agenda, including the development and implementation of innovative software solutions and data-driven strategies
  • Overseeing the design, development, and deployment of physical automation, robotics, and mechanical engineering solutions
  • Managing and optimizing IT infrastructure, ensuring security, compliance, and operational efficiency
  • Leading and mentoring three distinct teams, each focusing on specific areas of technology innovation
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to align technology initiatives with broader business objectives

Qualifications
You hold a Master’s degree in a scientific field such as Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related discipline along with proven leadership experience. You have preferably experience from the pharmaceutical industry and from a regulated environment.

To be successful in this position, we expect you to have:

  • Strategic vision and planning and demonstrated ability to foresee technological trends and align them with Novo Nordisk’s long-term goals, driving innovation and progress
  • Technical acumen and proficiency in understanding and leveraging cutting-edge technologies in software, automation, robotics, and IT infrastructure to enhance operational efficiency and drive technological advancement
  • Leadership and team management skills, including proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement

On a personal level, you have strong willingness to explore new ideas and adapt to dynamic technological landscapes, fostering a culture of innovation and adaptability. Your robust interpersonal and communication skills enable you to effectively collaborate across teams and departments, fostering an environment of strategic thinking and a team-oriented approach. Additionally, you demonstrate resilience in overcoming challenges and taking accountability for the department's outcomes, while also cultivating innovation in collaboration with stakeholders.

About the Department
CMC Development & Scaling makes a real difference for patients with chronic diseases across the world. We develop, manufacture and distribute drug candidates for clinical trials and have a strong culture with a “can do” mind-set.

The Department is part of the CVP area Drug Product & Analytical Development which is anchored in the CMC Development & Scaling area – a part of Product Supply, Quality and IT organization.
The Technology Innovation Department covers a broad spectrum of responsibilities, including driving the digitalization agenda in the CVP area, overseeing physical automation, robotics, mechanical design and engineering, and managing IT infrastructure, security, and compliance. The overarching purpose and strategy of the department involve spearheading innovative solutions in software, data, automation, and IT infrastructure to drive the area’s technological advancement and competitive edge.
The department consists of 56 employees split in 3 Teams: Technology Engineering, Data Applications and Support and Analytical IT.
