Postdoc in Epigenetics

Applications are invited for a position of postdoc in Epigenetics in the laboratory of DNRF Chair and Novo Nordisk Faculty Professor Vijay Tiwari (https://www.tiwarilab.org/ ). The position is available - initially for six months - from April 1, 2025, or as soon as possible thereafter - with the possibility of extension for three or more years.

The postdoc will lead research on gene regulatory mechanisms in development and disease and will support Professor Tiwari in smooth running of the laboratory at various levels. The group employs cutting-edge molecular biology, epigenetics and genomics tools in combination with computational biology approaches to generate comprehensive models of gene regulation during development and diseases such as cancer and neurodevelopmental disorders.

You will

• Lead research on gene regulatory mechanisms
• Employ state-of-the-art methods in epigenetics and gene regulation including histone modifications, transcription factor binding and chromatin accessibility assays
• Design research projects and support in establishing complex molecular biology protocols
• Perform in vitro and in vivo experiments as necessary
• Conduct collaborative research and interact with a broad range of colleagues and researchers
• Support research and development activities within the group
• Support the group leader in everyday routines including training new group members
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of all research activities within the group
• Collaborate with internal and external partners
• Engage in teaching as required

Essential Qualifications

• PhD in molecular biology, epigenetics, chromatin biology, genomics, cancer biology, biochemistry, developmental biology or related areas.
• At least one first-author publication, accepted or submitted
• Strong analytical, organizational, and record-keeping skills
• Proficient computer skills, including MS Office and research software programs
• Interest in working in a multidisciplinary and multicultural team
• Willing to collaborate with internal and external collaborators as well as support group members

Desired Qualifications

• Basic understanding of epigenetics, molecular biology and gene regulation
• Experience in cell culture as well as basic and advanced molecular biology techniques
• Familiarity with organoids\spheroids and mouse models
• Prior experience with perturbation-based functional analysis (e.g. shRNA, CRISPR-Cas9).
• Familiarity with drug sensitivity assays and screening
• Expertise in tissue sectioning, immunostaining and advanced imaging e.g. confocal microscopy
• Basic understanding of Bioinformatics would be an advantage

The Department of Molecular Medicine (IMM)
IMM aims to generate new knowledge on the function of the human body and disease mechanisms, thereby contributing to improved human health. IMM hosts an interdisciplinary group of experts in cancer biology and neurobiology and is in close proximity to the experts in genomics, proteomics and chromatin biology. Tiwari laboratory is also co-leading Center for Integrated Multi-Omics in Precision Medicine, Translational Cancer Hub and Danish Neurodevelopmental Disorder Consortium. Such a promising environment elicits translational collaborations with clinical practice and research toward understanding mechanisms underlying the pathophysiology of various human diseases.
