Are you interested in uncovering the mechanisms underlying group social cognition and interaction?

We invite applications for an appointment as a postdoc in group social cognition. The position is funded by the Carlsberg Semper Ardens grant titled “Self, other, and we: mechanisms and dynamics of self-other integration in social observation and interaction”.

You will primarily be involved in working within the social interaction and neuroscience (SINe Lab) group, with the aim of understanding self-other integration behavioural and neural dynamics during group interactions.

You will be based within the Section for Cognitive Systems, which is a lively and research oriented group of scientists and support staff with a broad interest in information processing in humans and computers, and a particular focus on the signals they exchange, and the opportunities these signals offer for modelling and engineering of cognitive systems.

Responsibilities and qualifications
You will be responsible for designing and running experiments investigating self-other integration in group interactions, analyzing behavioural and neural (using EEG) signals including interpersonal and inter-brain dynamics, and disseminating the results at international conferences and by publishing in peer-reviewed journals.

As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent). We are looking for a candidate with a background in neuroscience/biomedicine and machine learning.

The successful candidate should possess:

  • excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills, which are required to work with others, in a friendly and interdisciplinary environment
  • a passion and dedication to solve hard problems in joint action and group social cognition research
  • experience with designing and running joint action studies
  • experience with analyzing dynamics of two- or more persons’ data during social interaction (e.g., movements, EEG)
  • programming skills in Python
  • previous experience with hyperscanning-EEG techniques
