Københavns Universitet (KU)

Postdoctoral position in quantitative analyses focusing on early childhood mental health
Center for Early Intervention and Family Studies (CIF) at the Department of Psychology, University of Copenhagen (UCPH), invites candidates for a fully funded postdoctoral position starting on 1 January 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is for 3 years. We invite everyone who holds a relevant PhD-degree or expects to finish it soon to apply.

About CIF
CIF is a research center located at the Department of Psychology, University of Copenhagen, and led by Professor Mette S. Væver. The staff at CIF consists of approximately 22 full-time employees (scientific assistants, PhD students, postdocs, one assistant professor, and two associate professors) mostly with a background in psychology, as well as a corresponding number of student assistants.

The research at CIF focuses on the mental health of 0-6-year-old children and their parents. The center's research is conducted in close collaboration with municipalities and professionals working with children and families. As an employee at CIF, you get to work within a very relevant field and engage in interdisciplinary collaborations with a focus on promoting mental health in children and parents.

As a workplace, CIF is a tolerant and inspiring environment where we collaborate across projects and share knowledge and ideas with each other. All employees at CIF are deeply concerned about working towards improving early childhood mental health and supporting families with small children, creating an engaged and passionate working environment with forums for both formal and informal knowledge sharing. Furthermore, the CIF leadership aims at supporting different social activities strengthening the relations between the employees, such as a running club, early CIF parties, and a Friday bar, while at the same time also trying to create a family friendly workplace focusing on maintaining a satisfactory work-life balance among the employees.

The position and the project
The successful candidate will primarily work on a project investigating the observation-based instrument, Alarm Distress Baby Scale (ADBB), in the Danish ADBB Infancy Cohort with data from the health visitors’ assessments during the first year of infants born in 63 Danish municipalities. More specifically, we want to investigate how the health visitors use the ADBB in their daily practice, which interested candidates can read more about here: ADBB in Denmark (ku.dk). In this project, the successful candidate will be doing quantitative analyses on both questionnaires and data from the Danish registers.

Additionally, many of the projects in CIF evaluate interventions in complex systems, hence the successful candidate is also expected to work in collaboration with the other scientific employees at CIF on the quantitative evaluation of complex interventions.

Finally, the candidate is expected to provide statistical support to the other scientific employees at CIF.

Duties and Responsibilities
The successful applicant will work independently with data from the Center for Early Intervention and Family Studies. Main responsibilities include quantitative data analyses, manuscript preparation and communication of research results to the scientific community as well as to relevant stakeholders.

Your Competencies and Opportunities
The candidate must have obtained a PhD degree in epidemiology, sociology, psychology, public health, statistics, economics, or a related field, and must have experience with quantitative analyses of different types of data sets. Experience with data management and quantitative analyses is a prerequisite. Experience within the field of early childhood mental health is an advantage but not a prerequisite. The candidate must be able to work independently under supervision. Collaborative skills and team spirit are in high regard, and strong scientific writing skills are necessary. For the right candidate, there will be ample possibilities to influence the work and develop new project ideas that fit within the overall aim of the Center for Early Intervention and Family Studies.
