ESG Controller for Matas Group Finance

What is the job about?
Would you like to help develop and implement our new ESG reporting structure? Are you motivated by optimizing processes and structuring data, and do you take pride in delivering well-crafted reports?

You must thrive in a fast-paced retail environment in the finance department. In this key role as ESG Controller, you will help build the foundation for ESG reporting, and work to support the Group’s ESG initiatives with data and insights. This role requires a strong understanding of sustainability practices, ESG reporting standards, and the ability to apply data to drive decision-making. You will have great opportunities to develop the role and shape the processes and will have close cooperation with the group's subsidiaries as well as daily cooperation with the colleagues in the Group ESG team, cross-functional teams, and the Group management to ensure compliance with ESG reporting regulations.

Your main responsibilities as ESG Controller:

• Develop methods for collecting data for ESG reporting and documentation across all the Group's companies to adhere with the CSRD and EU taxonomy reporting requirements
• Oversee the collection, analysis, and prepare reporting of ESG data to stakeholders in internal reporting, as well as external reporting in quarterly and annual reports
• Optimize processes and controls and ensure correct system usage related to ESG reporting
• Monitor and ensure compliance with ESG reporting requirements, including regular assessments of ESG risks and opportunities to align with long-term business objectives
• Collaborates with external auditors and implement improvements based on their recommendations
• Stay up to date on global ESG trends within ESG reporting, hereunder regulations, and best practices to ensure alignment with industry standards

The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications and skills:

• Familiarity with and knowledge of legislation, requirements, and standards for ESG reporting (CSRD, EU Taxonomy, etc.). It is an advantage if you also have practical experience in the field, but not a requirement
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and present clear, actionable insights
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Excellent English written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and with senior leadership
• High level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail

Your educational background is not the most important thing for us, we know that it - within the field - can be diverse. The most important thing is that you have great drive, have a good understanding of data and an interest in working with ESG and want a central role with ESG on the agenda.
