Health & Safety Co-Ordinator (Temporary)

Job Objective:
To effectively coordinate and implement comprehensive health and safety programs within an organisation, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards. By fostering a safe and healthy work environment, I aim to minimize risks, prevent accidents, and promote employee well-being.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Proactively champion the health and safety function, and safe working practices across the company’s activities and operations.
- Monitor legislative updates, ensuring necessary changes are applied promptly.
- Regularly review and update Risk Assessments, Safe Operating Procedures, and Safety Statement, communicating any updates across site.
- Complete Safety Induction Training for all new employees and sub-contractors, and maintain documentary evidence of same,
- Carry out Safety Audits.
- Investigate, record and report accidents, incidents and near-misses promptly, ensuring any corrective actions are implemented without delay.
- Provide relevant accident information for insurance purposes.
- Identify new and on-going safety related training requirements, ensuring all mandatory training is reviewed and delivered on time.
- Ensure that correct PPE is availed of at all times by all relevant employees.
- Review sub-contractors’ Safety Statements and Safety Compliance.
- Attend regular Health & Safety meetings.
- Liaise with organisations such as the HSA and other relevant professional bodies.
- Update noticeboards
- Review sub-contractors’ Safety Compliance.
- General admin duties
- Other duties as required
Necessary Skills & Requirements:
- A Degree in occupational Health & Safety.
- No less than 4+ years of professional experience.
- Manual Handling Instructor and Assessor.
- Occupational First Aider
- Must be comfortable in carrying out training, risk-assessments and other Health & Safety reports.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with emphasis on ability to provide and explain reports accurately.
- Excellent organisation and time management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Up to date with Legislation, Guidance, Advice & Compliance.
- Proactive in identifying positive & negative acts, ability to follow through with realistic corrective & preventive actions
