Our laboratory in Lyngby Denmark is looking for a Senior UHV Hardware Development Engineer to join our team.

In this role you will drive the development of complex mechanical and electromechanical UHV and nanofabrication equipment capabilities for the manufacturing of nanoscale components for topological quantum computer within Microsoft Quantum program. Your background and experience in the fundamentals of UHV, clean-room processing technologies combined with hands-on experience on UHV and cleanroom equipment resources will enable you to quickly engage in your new role. With your open and determined attitude you will collaborate closely and efficiently with other experts within Microsoft and its supplier network. An innovative and growth mind set approach coupled with strong time and resource management skills will enable you to succeed in this cutting-edge technology environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manages development projects of complex UHV and HV Semiconductor equipment & cleanroom equipment.
  • Collaborates closely with UHV and Semiconductor equipment suppliers to establish an understanding of equipment and hardware that provides best performance for quantum hardware development.
  • Collaborate closely with process, material, fabrication scientist and engineer.
  • Develop mechanical, optomechanical, electromechanical, mechatronic designs, technical drawings, vacuum and electrical schematics for UHV hardware using CAD software.
  • Develop automation for UHV equipment and complex motion DOF devices using PLC programming and basic knowledge software language.
  • Research and apply new technologies and materials to enhance the design and development of semiconductor or UHV equipment
  • Conduct tests and experiments to verify the design specifications and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation for internal and external communication and support.

Qualifications
Qualifications or Experience:

  • PhD, MSc or BSc in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Optomechanical, Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related field.
  • Experience in UHV and Semiconductor equipment design and development like MBE, UHV system, ALD, Sputtering, E-beam or a similar vacuum-based thin film deposition technique.
  • Basic understanding of micro- and nanofabrication technologies.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy to ensure the quality and reliability of mechanical systems and devices.
  • Self-motivated and hands-on attitude with the ability to use structured problem-solving techniques to drive rapid issue.
  • Excellent oral & written communication & teamwork skills in English.
  • Capability and willingness for international travel, up to 35%.
