Your role and responsibilities

We are seeking curious and energized members to enrich our diverse team! The solution design lead acts as a systems thinker and a bridge between identifying the functional product requirements and the corresponding ways to build and competitively position our solutions for the energy transition markets such as renewable production and hydrogen. The solution design lead is responsible for translating the solution roadmap into actionable steps to develop the solution in collaboration with engineers, designers, developers, and architects. Reporting to the Solutions Development Manager, you will support our unit in designing and implementing new solutions and ways of working. Your responsibilities • Lead and manage development of software design solutions, demonstrating a strong ability to map the product roadmap and priorities into actionable steps and coordinate the team to achieve the overall timelines. • Create software technology roadmap, analyze market research, competitive analyses, and user feedback. • Be responsible for design workshops, project management, design guidelines, prototypes, innovation, and creativity within the designated area. • Promote customer centricity and ensure stakeholder management, when working in collaboration with engineering, development, and sales. • Keep up to date on and contribute to software engineering processes, tools, and standards. • Identifies potential technical and commercial risks and the corresponding ways to mitigate them. • Ensures compliance with ABB’s integrity, data privacy, GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), and safety standards and the core values of ABB in the assigned area.

Qualifications for the role

• BCs or MCs degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, industrial design, or related field. Relevant experience can compensate for formal education.
• Understanding and technical expertise in all aspects of software engineering.
• Skills related to the job: Computer science, data analysis and interpretation, user experience design, sketching and visual communication, software development & management, design thinking, cyber security, and agile methodology.
• Good communication skills in English are required. Norwegian language skills will be appreciated.
• Skilled in project setup, administration, development, and support.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Previous experience in a leadership or managerial role and / or familiarity with Microsoft Azure for software development is appreciated.
