Electronics Development Engineer

Bang & Olufsen A/S

Requisition ID 1888 - Posted - Denmark - Engineering / Software / R&D - Associate - Struer, Denmark

Can you see yourself being part of groundbreaking designs that blend cutting-edge technology with timeless craftsmanship?

Join us at Bang & Olufsen and help shape the next generation of iconic products!

As our new electronics development engineer, you will join a growing team of 11 HW engineers and technical project leads. You will work closely with several internal development functions and long-term external development partners, in a dynamic environment where openness and creativity are core parts of our culture.

While you will support product development throughout the entire development lifecycle, your primary task will be to lead the development activities at Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) - and product-integration levels. Once you have drafted the technical foundation (incl. schematics), you will work closely with long-term external development partners, to jointly bring your design from concept to production. Your focus will always be on the product and the magical experiences we want to bring to our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive PCBA-level development.
  • Participates in product integration work.
  • Ensures reuse of existing and mature designs to minimize verification tasks and reduce overall project risks. Clearly visualize and communicate differences to team, as part of design reviews.
  • Ensures component harmonization across B&O PCBA designs and delivers early BOMs for B&O/partner procurement teams.
  • PCBA level simulations on e.g., signal- and power integrity.
  • Responsible for schematics hand-over and component library synchronization to ODM/partner, for them to carry out layout design.
  • Delivers PCBA-level verification plans, and support partners, who will carry out most of the verification and certification work. Some certification is still done in-house at B&O.
  • Takes ownership of and keeps selected design elements/technologies up to date.
  • Participates in or drives technology exploration projects.
  • Prototyping of internal engineering samples and dev. kits for e.g., SW and human interface design teams.
  • Occasionally support maintenance tasks.

What You Bring
We imagine you come with an electronics engineering background and a few years of experience in product development. While we welcome talent from all industries, we expect you to come with some experience within one or more of the following fields:

  • Electronic product development for rugged/outdoor environments will be a plus.
  • Digital electronics knowhow for high-speed interfaces with a basic understanding of signal integrity design practices.
  • Knowledge of basic digital communication busses such as I2C, SPI, I2S, etc. and microcontroller/microprocessors is a plus.
  • Analog audio electronics including ADCs, DACs and audio amplifiers.
  • Sensor electronics, e.g. motion/proximity, wear detect, IMU, UWB, indoor radars, etc.

Moreover, you bring:

  • General experience working with electronics development (block diagrams, schematics, layout, simulation, verification, debugging, regulatory compliance, etc.)
  • Hands-on electronics development and verification experience.
  • Experience with typical electronics CAD tools (we use Altium Designer).
  • Experience with layout design and best practices is highly desired (even though you will often not create the layout yourself).

From a personal perspective, we expect you to be skilled at planning and structuring your own tasks while effectively managing project tasks and risks. You should be capable of collaborating closely with long-term development partners across Europe and Asia. Clear communication in English at an intermediate level (B1 or above) is essential, and we encourage you to embrace every opportunity for learning and remain open-minded towards new ideas.
