Principal Cloud Engineer

As our new Principal Cloud Engineer you will have a role with both challenging and complex problem solving and with a high focus on managing stakeholders globally in the whole organization.

Your primary responsibilities are:

• Landing Zone Design & Automation: Architect and enhance automated AWS and Azure landing zones tailored for internal software development and SaaS solutions, ensuring high degrees of automation and scalability.
• Lifecycle Management: Improve and maintain the fully automated account vending and decommission flow for AWS and Azure, ensuring seamless account/subscription lifecycle management and operational efficiency.
• Network Connectivity & Security: Implement secure network connectivity and network security (network firewall management) across multi-cloud and hybrid setups, ensuring robust security and smooth integration.
• Foundational Landing Zone Monitoring: Develop monitoring solutions focused on the foundational landing zone to ensure operational efficiency, security, and cost optimization without unnecessary overhead.
• Shared Services Management: Enhance shared services offered to product teams, focusing on Identity and Access Management, Centralized logging, and Security tooling.
• Cost Governance: Maintain the cost governance platform, enabling the cloud spend optimization.
• Cloud Managed Databases: Guide development and database teams in adopting cloud-native database solutions following well-architected principles.
• Collaboration & Alignment: Partner with product teams to align foundational landing zone architecture with business objectives. Drive continuous platform improvement and establish architectural standards. Provide Architecture Policies or standards for foundational landing zones.

What you bring:

• Proficiency in Azure cloud services is preferred with AWS as an advantage, along with experience in cloud-native tools.
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and Python.
• Hands-on experience with network connectivity and network security, including cloud native firewalls, in multi-cloud and hybrid environments.
• Expertise in building and managing CI/CD pipelines for cloud deployments.
• Strong understanding of cloud-native database technologies and migration strategies
• Strategic thinker with the ability to align foundational landing zone architecture in AWS and Azure with business goals.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken).

The Team
The Infrastructure Services team consists of eleven senior specialists within the IT infrastructure disciplines (datacenter, network, compute, backup, cloud, automation) located in Bulgaria and Denmark. The team is part of Global IT, Enterprise Platform Delivery and delivers the IT Infrastructure services platform at Milestone systems.
