QA Test Engineer
Do you want to part of a global team of Test Engineers in a dynamic project environment? At Leica Geosystems Technology, we are now looking for a QA Test Engineer for our Machine Control Division.
We are seeking a highly professional and experienced Test Engineer with a minimum of 5-7 years of QA software testing experience. The ideal candidate will have expertise in both manual and automated testing, with a strong focus on improving testing processes and delivering high-quality software. Experience in test automation using tools such as Selenium or pytest, or Playwright is highly desired. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams to ensure product quality and stability.
You will be part of the On-Machine Software department, which is dedicated to design and develop state-of-the-art machine control software for 16 different types of heavy construction machines. Your focus will lie on our embedded software products, but testing comprises all parts of our portfolio, in-office feature testing, regression testing on our local T-Site and alpha/beta testing out in the field. Work is organized in projects with clear deliverables and the development teams work agile, according to the SCRUM framework. Quality and test plans are tracked in Confluence and Xray and our ambition is to include more automated testing into our CI/CD environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Software & System Testing: Plan, execute, and lead both functional and non-functional testing, including regression, performance.
- Automation Development: Implement and maintain automated test suites using Java Selenium, pytest, or Playwright, or other automation tools.
- Field Testing: Conduct field testing of software on machines at testing sites, ensuring the software performs optimally in real-world conditions.
- Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with the development and QA teams to ensure seamless integration of test procedures into the CI/CD pipeline.
- Defect Resolution: Identify, document, and manage defects to resolution, ensuring all issues are thoroughly addressed before release.
- Documentation: Create and maintain test plans, test cases, and detailed test documentation that is clear and concise.
- Process Improvement: Contribute to the continuous improvement of QA processes, methodologies, and test strategies.
- Stakeholder Communication: Communicate testing progress, results, and quality metrics clearly and effectively with stakeholders, both technical and non-technical.
- Mentorship: Support and mentor junior testers, promoting a culture of quality across the team.
This is you
You have a formal relevant education, Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience. You are honest, engaged, structured, analytical, and willing to be part of a great team where we value and use our differences to push the limit of quality and performance.
In addition, we expect you to have:
- 5-7 years of QA experience in software testing within a commercial environment.
- Test Automation Expertise: Proven experience with Selenium, pytest, Playwright, or API automation tools.
- Strong understanding of software development life cycles (Agile/Scrum).
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate across different departments and with stakeholders at various levels.
- Experience in creating and maintaining test documentation (test plans, reports, etc.).
- Strong problem-solving skills, interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to continuous improvement
- High level of personal drive and self-motivation
- Experience with release and change management
- Ability to manage and prioritize tasks effectively, working both independently and as part of a team.
Desired Skills:
- ISTQB or other relevant certifications.
- Experience working with CI/CD environments and integrating automated testing into pipelines.
- Exposure to JIRA, GIT, Confluence
- Experience in Machine control software used in construction machinery
Language: English (fluent written and verbal) is a pre-requisite.
Travel requirements: Occasional travel may be required (e.g. to attend meetings or visit test sites), but on a limited basis.
